I was going to renew mine during the summer but never got around to it.
I asked at the main post office and they said if they checked it (additional £5 fee) it would be back in two weeks. _________________ David

I seem to remember with the blurb I got from the post office there were various options from the standard 8 (?) weeks to 1 week, 72 hours, 48 hours and same day if you make an appointment with the passport office, but from memory the latter was about £75 and only works if there are no complications for passport renewal.
I got my new one in about 1.5 weeks, but that was around this time of the year when not too many people are wanting them.
Best way to find out is request the passport application information at the post office and it'll give you all the blurb about it - they even write it in English these days which is fairly amazing for a government run organisation!
Btw, do you need a professional person to sign for renewals?

And another £8 for checking it before it's sent, £7 for special delivery of your documents back, £50 in used bank notes for them not to pass your photo around the passport office for a good laugh...

John (OK, probably not your real name)... why do you claim to be in the USA when you are in fact in India? Read the sticky warning... we ban people for trying to mislead like this, so get your details updated quickly or the same will happen to you. _________________ UK Hotels - UK Selfcatering - UK B&Bs - UK Attractions

I renewed mine in April and I got it back 16 days after sending it. I believe though that if you try and get a new one in the summer months then it can take longer.
It is nowhere as bad as it was in the UK a few years ago when there was a big backlog. _________________ Venice apartments, Amsterdam accommodation, Barcelona apartments . |
