10 Downing Street
Home of the British Prime Minister, Number 10’s very ordinary address and the modest terraced façade are deceptive, giving little clue to the real size and grandeur within. Number Ten in fact consists of two houses. The house, which faces Downing Street, is a typical late 17th Century town house.

2 Willow Road, Hampstead
Visit the former home of architect Erno Goldfinger and his wife, the artist Ursula Blackwell, which he designed and built in 1939. Their inspirational home, the middle of 3 terraced houses, is one of the few modern movement houses, complete with its original contents, open to the public.

Abbey Road Studios
The inconspicuous Abbey Road, in the district of St. John’s Wood in northwest London, was made world famous by the Beatles. Abbey Road is of course home to the legendary Abbey Road Studios and the Abbey Road crosswalk.

Absolut Ice Bar
This bar is only the fourth of its kind in the world, and is a collaboration between the owners of the original ice hotel and the vodka brand Absolut. The bar is made entirely of ice, and is at a constant temperature of minus five degrees Celsius.

Adelphi Theatre
In November 1806, the first show of the Adelphi theatre, then known as the Sans Pareil, took place. Since that performance of Miss Scott’s Entertainment, the theatre has been changed many times.

Admiralty Arch
At the time of its completion in 1911, Sir Aston Webb’s Triple Arched structure was used to house the offices of the Sea Lords. It is also the ceremonial entrance to the Mall, which leads down to Buckingham Palace.

Albert Bridge
Spanning the river Thames from Chelsea to Battersea, Albert Bridge is without doubt one of the prettiest bridges in the capital. Designed by Roland Mason Ordish in 1873, the bridge was always intended as a showpiece for the affluent people of Chelsea and dedicated to Queen Victoria’s husband.

Albery Theatre
Originally known as the New Theatre, it is part of a ‘pair’ of W.G.R. Sprague designed theatres, the other being the Wyndham’s Theatre. Built in 1903, the theatre was renamed the Albery in 1973 after the venue’s long serving manager, the late Sir Bronson Albery.

Aldwych Theatre
Completed in December 1905, the Aldwych Theatre was part of the grand rebuilding of the Strand area that began in the late nineteenth century. It is part of a ‘pair’ of theatres that was designed by W.G.R Sprague, the other being the Strand theatre.

Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum
See the laboratory in which Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928 and changed the course of history. Penicillin has affected the lives of everyone. The laboratory in which Fleming made his discovery has been reconstructed to how it would have been in 1928.
