Northern Maritime and Miemeyer Tobacco Museum
The Scheepvaart en Niemeyer Tabacksmuseum (Northern Maritime and Miemeyer Tobacco Museum) is housed in two medieval buildings. The main sections of the museum display models, instruments, charts, and paintings that examine the history of Groningen’s shipping industry.

Omniversum
The Omniversum is a globe-shaped building which houses a digital planetarium, and a number of multimedia theatres. The name comes from a composition of Omnimax and Universe (in Dutch the word is Universum). Each theatre shows themed programming which examines a specific subject.

Oude Kerk
The Old Church dates back to 1050, but the tower was not constructed until around 1350. The tower is 75 metres high, and tilts quite sharply, being about 6 feet out of plumb. There are tombstones in the floor inside the church.

Oude Kerk
The Oude Kerk (Old Church) has been reconstructed several times over the centuries. It is believed that the original building was constructed during the 13th century, and dedicated to St Nicholas.

Panorama Mesdag
The Panorama Mesdag is the world’s largest circular painting, with a circumference of 119m.

Peace Palace
The Peace Palace was constructed between 1907 and 1913, with the aid of donations made by Andrew Carnegie. The building houses an extensive library, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the International Court of Justice, and the International Law Academy.

Photography Museum Amsterdam
The Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam (FOAM) exhibits all genres of photography, including fine art, documentary, applied, historical and contemporary. The museum has a large exhibition featuring several world famous photographers, along with smaller temporary exhibitions which promote emerging young talent.

Pianola Museum
The Pianola Museum has a large collection of pianolas and automatic music machines dating from the beginning of the 20th century.

Pieterskerk
The Pieterskerk in Leiden is one of the oldest and largest monuments in the town. The former church has now been deconsecrated, and serves now as a museum and monument, hosting a number of art treasures and memorials to those buried at the church.

Planetarium
The Planetarium in Franeker is the oldest working planetarium in the world. It was built by a local woolcomber, Eise Eisinga, after a local paper predicted the end of the world following a conjunction of Mercury, Venus and Mars in 1774.
