Patton Memorial
The Patton Memorial in Ettelbruck is an identical copy of the statue in the park of Westpoint Military Academy. It was erected in memory of American General George S. Patton (1885-1945) whose troops fought in the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944 and 1945.

Petrusse Casements
These military tunnels were formed by hollowing out the rock on which the city of Luxembourg was built. They date back to 1644, the time when Luxembourg was under Spanish rule. The French military engineer Vauban enlarged the Petrusse casements when he captured the city 40 years later.

Petrusse Express
This little sightseeing train, which has operated since 1987, takes visitors through little streets and parkland. It offers panoramic views of the old fortress and city. The trip takes about one hour, and a commentary about the history of the sights is provided through headphones. Visitors can choose from six languages.

Petrusse Valley
This beautiful park, especially lovely in spring when the magnolias are in bloom, lies in the valley of the River Petrusse between the upper town and the Bourbon Plateau.

Pettingen Castle
Pettingen Castle, now in ruins, dates from the early years of the 13th Century. It was defended by a fifty feet wide moat and a surrounding wall with several towers, two of which are still standing. The castle has been rebuilt several times.

Philharmonie Luxembourg
This splendid, new building houses three concert halls and was designed by the French architect Christian de Portzamparc.

Place Clairfontaine
This fine square, near the Notre-Dame Cathedrale, was redesigned in the 1980s during a district restoration project. A refuge belonging to the Abbey of Clairfontaine, that gave the square its name, once stood here but it was demolished in the 1930s.

Place Guillaume
Markets are held in Place Guillaume every Wednesday and Saturday. Here you will find a mass of colourful stalls selling fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, fish, cheese (including goat`s cheese) and homemade produce such as jam.

Place d`Armes
Located in the heart of the old fortified city, Place d`Armes is one of the favourite places of both locals and visitors. Originally constructed in the 17th Century, it was used by French troops as a parade ground.

Place de la Constitution
The Place de la Constitution offers a superb view of the Petrusse Valley and the Adolphe Bridge. In the centre of the square is a tall monument commemorating the Luxembourgers who died during the First World War.
