Brunnhofer Gallery
The Galerie Brunnhofer, located in Linz since 1998, aims to bring affordable modern art from Austria to the widest possible audience. The gallery has its own permanent exhibition space, which is open to the public, and acts as a publisher and seller for its artists, both digitally and in printed form.

Bummerlhaus Building
The jewel of Steyr’s beautiful Stadtplatz, or city square, is the late Gothic Bummerlhaus, which is also the best preserved secular building in Upper Austria. Parts of the building date from the 13th century and it was restored to its original style in the 1970’s.

Burg Alpernstein Castle
Burg Altpernstein was built in the year 1000 in a commanding position 400 metres above the Kremstal to protect the population against plundering Hungarians. It is chronicled in 1160 and 1207. The fortress changed hands many times during its history, not necessarily to the benefit of the local population.

Burggarten
Designed by Franz Antoine, this was the private royal garden for the Habsburg family for a hundred years. It came to be built upon the remnants of the fortifications which once surrounded the Hofburg and were blown up by Napoleon.

Burgtheater
The former imperial court theatre hosts a program of classic, contemporary and experimental theatre and readings, with an emphasis on Austrian playwrights. Originally designed by Gottfried Semper and Karl Hasenauer and opened in 1888, it has undergone several revamps; improving the acoustics and seating, and modernisation following a fire in 1945.

Burial Museum
The Viennese have an obsession with funerals and burials and this rather macabre museum is a fascinating glimpse into their perspective on death.

Butterfly House
Hundreds of live, tropical butterflies can be seen here, fluttering next to you as you walk around. Housed in the magnificent ‘Jugendstil’ greenhouse in the Burggarten. As well as the 27°C temperature 80% humidity, a waterfall, small pond and bridges add to the effect of wandering through a tropical paradise.

Capuchin Church
The parish church of St. Matthias, also known as the. Kapuzinerkirche, stands close by Linz’s new cathedral. The church, which is part of a former monastery, was constructed in the 17th century.

Cardinal Schwarzenberg House
Kardinal-Schwarzenberg-Haus, a former granary named after Cardinal Friedrich Fürst zu Schwarzenberg, contains the archive and library of the Archdiocese of Salzburg which are amongst Austria’s most precious cultural treasures. There are microfiche copies of historical documents, such as registers and accounts, from parishes all over Austria.
