Stifterhaus
Adalbert Stifter (1805 - 1868) became a painter and writer after studying law, mathematics and natural sciences at Vienna university. His first works, published in Budapest, appeared in the middle of the 19th century.

Strobl Lakeside Resort
The village of Strobl is situated on the eastern side of the Abersee, actually the eastern part of the Wolfgangsee. The village name derives from a local family of iron trader’s who are commemorated in the village coat of arms.

Szene
Szene, which was founded in 1969, is Salzburg’s contemporary performing arts, music and dance theatre. Over the years Szene grew to be a diverse contemporary foil to Salzburg’s traditional cultural scene and established an international reputation especially in the area of support for young artists.

Tanzquartier Wien
Opened in 2001, this is Austria’s first institution dedicated exclusively to the genre of contemporary dance and performance. Its ever changing programme consists of in-house and touring productions, as well as workshops, symposia, lectures and discussions.

Tauern Road Museum
The Tauernstrassenmuseum documents the history of transport in the region over 2000 years, from the earliest times to the present. The Romans were the first to construct roads over the alps although people had travelled over the mountains since ancient times.

The Belvedere
The Belvedere consists of two stupendous baroque mansions designed by Lukas von Hildebrandt in the early 18th century. Built for the great Austrian military leader, Prince Eugčne of Savoy, the Unteres Belvedere and Oberes Belvedere, facing each other across a formal garden, are now museums.

The Golden Roof & Maximilianeum
There are 2,657 copper tiles gleaming from the ‘Goldenes Dachl’ which sits atop the building now housing the Maximilianeum. The museum was opened to mark the 500th anniversary of the Golden Roof and displays art and information pertinent to Emperor Maximilian’s life and work.

The History of Torture
Housed in a former air-raid shelter this macabre and rather gruesome museum details various types of torture throughout the ages.
