Seeschloss Orth
The picturesque Seeschloss Orth lies on a small rocky island at the northern end of the Traunsee. It is connected to the lakeside by a wooden bridge and is presently used as a conference centre and wedding venue.

Shrine of Our Lady of Maria Plain
The Wallfahrtsbasilika Maria Plain, which has been a place of pilgrimage for 300 years, is situated on a hilltop with spectacular views over Salzburg reaching as far as the Alps. The building dates from the 17th century and houses a miraculous painting of the Virgin Mary over the high altar.

Siegmundstor
The 131 metre long, 13 metre wide Siegmundstor tunnel is one of the most amazing feats of 18th civil century engineering. The tunnel, constructed between 1764 and 1766, connects the Old Town with the Riedenburg quarter through the Mönchsberg and is one of Salzburg’s most important arterial routes.

Siegmundstor Horse Pond
The Hofmarstallschwemme, formerly a place for watering and washing horses, built Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach and rebuilt by Prince Archbishop Firmian in 1732, stands next to the old city entrance to the Siegmundstor, a tunnel driven through the Mönchsberg.

Sigmund Freud Museum
This museum was the private apartment and office of Dr. Sigmund Freud, the founder of the Psychoanalytical Society, from 1891 to 1938 until, following the Anschluss, he fled with his family to London.

Sisi Musuem
This very popular museum, housed in the Hofburg, enables visitors the opportunity to learn more about Elisabeth of Bavaria, affectionately named Sisi, wife of Emporer Franz Josef I. The six rooms, opened in 2004, explore the life and history of this much misunderstood but loved Empress.

Small Festival Hall
The former Kleines Festspielhaus (Small Festival Hall), which also contains the Faistauer Foyer and the Karl-Böhm-Saal, has been converted since 2003 into the House for Mozart dedicated to performances of the composer’s stage works in suitably intimate surroundings.

Spanish Riding School
A must for all horse lovers. The School is intrinsically linked to the breeding of Lippizaner horses, a cross between Spanish, Arab and Berber strains, by Archduke Karl in the 16th century.
