Salt Mine
Hallstatt’s association with salt mining dates back at least 7000 years and the ancient salt mine, which is known to have been in operation for 2800 years, is open to visitors. There are exhibitions devoted to archaeological and historical aspects of salt production from the earliest times up to the present.

Salt Pipeline
The Soleleitung, dating from the early 17th century, is the oldest industrial pipeline in the world.

Salzburg Baroque Museum
The Barockmuseum, located in the former Orangery of the Mirabell palace, contains sketches, designs and models showing the progress of many monumental Baroque projects from commission through to their final form.

Salzburg Cathedral
The 17th century baroque cathedral of St. Rupert was founded in 774 on what was probably a sacred Celtic and Roman site and the location of the forum of the Roman city Juvavum. The building was reconstructed in its present form over a number of decades following a fire in 1598.

Salzburg Marionette Theatre
The internationally renowned Marionette Theatre was founded by sculptor Anton Aicher in 1913 and became known for the fairy tales staged for children. It is housed in a small Baroque theatre with an architecturally noteworthy auditorium.

Salzburg Museum Neue Residenz
Salzburg’s new museum in the Neue Residenz on Mozartplatz in the heart of the Altstadt is dedicated to the history, art and culture of the city and province.

Salzburg Playhouse
The Schauspielhaus is the largest non-profit making theatre in Austria. Its carefully selected drama programme offers plays from antiquity, the classical period right up to modern times even to new, experimental theatre and is suitable for theatregoers of all ages.

Salzburg Water Museum
The intriguing Wasser Museum, on the Münchsberg, was founded by two former Salzburg Waterworks employees who had between them collected a huge number of items connected with the water industry in Salzburg. The exhibition is, in fact, located in one of the elevated reservoirs which was in use until relatively recently.

Salzburg Zoo
The GeoZoo Salzburg, located south of the city, houses a huge variety of animals, approximately 500 in number, in large natural themed enclosures on a 14 hectare site.

Salzburgring Racetrack
The Salzburgring, situated in a wooded valley between Koppl and Pleinfeld, is a 4.2 Km long racetrack. The track is laid out with two long fast straights with a sweeping, high speed bend at one end and a tight bend at the other end.
