Parish Church of Holy Rupert und Virgil
Dorfgastein’s beautiful Pfarrkirche of the Holy Rupert und Virgil, with its white steeple which dominates the town, is an early Gothic building dating from the year 1350 but was subsequently partially remodelled the Baroque style.

Parish Church of Our Lady
The Bad Gastein Pfarrkirche, built by subscription between 1498 and 1507 on the site of a much older establishment possibly dating from the 9th century, dominates the pristine, pedestrianised centre of Bad Hofgastein.

Parish Church of St Laurence
The Pfarrkirche zum Hl.Laurentius is a late Gothic church, built in 1142 at Abtsdorf just outside Attersee, belonged to the Benedictine monastery at Mondsee until its dissolution in 1791. Abtsdorf, in fact, means abbot’s village.

Parish Church of St Maria
The Pfarr- und Wallfahrtskirche Maria Attersee on the Kirchberg, overlooking the lake, is Attersee’s most prominent landmark. The original Gothic church was converted to the Baroque style by the master builders Jakob Pawanger and Josef Mathias Götz from Passau for their patron Franz Ferdinand Graf Khevenhüller between 1722 and 1728.

Parish Church of St. Stephen
The building of St. Stephens, with its 96 metre high Gothic tower, was begun in 1492 since which time there have been many additions and alterations. There is a 17th century clock in the tower which is surmounted by a Baroque onion dome.

Parish Church of the Assumption
The Pfarrkirche, with its Romanesque tower, dates from the 12th century. The building, which overlooks the town from the cliff face, was rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century and the upper part of the tower was added in the 18th century.

Parish Church of the Precious Blood
The Parscher Kirche is Salzburg’s most notable 1950’s architectural building and the probably the finest post-war church in Austria. It was design by the architects Johannes Spalt, Friedrich Kurrent and Wilhelm Holzbauer of Arbeitsgruppe 4.

Parsonage
The Ansfelden Pfarrhof was built, between 1696 and 1707, by Carlo Antonio Carlone for Matthäus von Weißenberg, who was appointed parson in 1689. The Baroque master builder created a splendid building which is one of the most beautiful in Ansfelden.

Pasqualati House
This former apartment of Beethoven’s is now a museum. Living here on and off between 1804 and 1814, it is known that the composer, amongst other works, completed his Fourth, Fifth, and Seventh Symphonies here, as well as the opera ‘Fidelio’.

Pasterze Glacier
The Pasterze, approximately 9km in length, is the longest glacier in Austria and in the Eastern Alps. It lies in the valley below the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. During the summer months, the glacier can be reached from the Grossglockner Pass by road.
