Ossuary
The Beinhaus is housed on the ground floor of St. Michael’s Chapel next to the parish church and has rows of skulls, over 600 in all, arranged above stacks of bones. The earliest remains date from the end of the 18th century but the majority are from the 19th century.

Otto Wagner Hofpavillon
Designed by secessionist architect Otto Wagner and completed in 1899 the Hofpavillon was originally conceived as a private railway station for the Imperial family when they travelled between the Hofburg and Schönbrunn. The domed waiting room of the Emperor is furnished in mahogany with gold fittings and decorations.

Palais Ferstel
Although the building dates back to the mid 17th century, and was previously famous when the first water pipe in Vienna was installed in 1652, it was unveiled in its current form in 1860.

Palffy Palace
Originally built in 1357 the palace was torn down by Rudolf Khuen von Belasy at the end of the 16th century and rebuilt in Renaissance style. Having changed hands several times it came into possession of the Pálffy family in the late 17th century.

Palm House
The Palmenhaus is housed in perhaps the worlds’ most beautiful ‘Jugendstil’ greenhouse, which was designed by Friedrich Ohmann around 1900. The Emperor used this greenhouse for gardening and relaxation but it has now become a popular tourist attraction. The 2050 sq metres are filled with plants used to decorate official functions.

Panorama Museum
The Panorama Museum, in its stunning mountain top location, opened in 1995. The building in which it is housed was once a hunting lodge and was frequented by Austria’s finest including Emperor Franz Josef I, who spent the Summer months at nearby Bad Ischl.

Papyrus Museum
Drawing its exhibits from a collection of around 200,000 preserved items, some dating back as far as 3000 BC, this museum, in the centre of the Imperial Palace, has the largest collection of papyri in the world.

Parish Church
The Pfarrkirche of Ansfelden is dedicated to St. Valentin. It is predominantly a Baroque church but contains traces of much earlier Romanesque and Gothic structures. The church was extensively renovated towards the end of the 19th century and between 1970 and 1980.

The Stadtpfarrkirche “Maria Himmelfahrt”, which is one of the oldest churches in Linz, has Romanesque and Gothic origins, still evident, for example, in the structure of the tower. The 13th century basilica was rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 17th century and was inaugurated in 1656.
