Kapitelplatz Horse Pond
The Kapitelschwemme, formerly a place for watering and washing horses, can be found in the Kapitelplatz, opposite the Archbishop’s Palace. The pond, commissioned by Archbishop Leopold Anton Firmian in 1732, is decorated with magnificent sculpture showing Neptune standing on a sea horse and with two water spouting Tritons.

Karl Heinrich Waggerl Museum
Karl Heinrich Waggerl was one of Austria’s most popular authors having sold more than seven million books which were translated into a dozen languages.

Karl-Marx-Hof
Although much of it was reduced to rubble during the February Uprising of the Austrian Civil War this tenement block is a fine example of municipal housing.

Karlskirche
Following the 1712 plaque epidemic this church was built as a dedication to 16th century saint Carlo Borromeo, a healer. Featuring a spectacular elongated ellipsoid dome and flanked by two enormous pillars modelled on Trajan’s Column this is one of the finest baroque churches north of the Alps.

Karlsplatz Station
This former station of the Viennese Stadtbahn, designed by Otto Wagner, was opened as Akademiestrasse in 1899.

Kepler’s House
The Protestant astronomer lived in Linz from 1612 to 1626 where he worked as a mathematics teacher at the Landschule and as an astrologer. From 1622 onwards he lived with his family in this house, which belonged to the Linz merchant Altenstrasser and here he completed The Rudolphine Tables.

Kirche Am Hof
Founded by the Carmelite Friars towards the end of the 14th century this church is somewhat of a mis-match of styles because of some later crude embellishments.

Kirche am Steinhof
This superb example of Jugendstil architecture was commissioned as a chapel for the city’s main psychiatric hospital.

Klammstein Castle Ruins
Burg Klammstein is the oldest historic building in the Gastein valley. The castle, which was first mentioned in the 13th century although certainly on the site of a much older, prehistoric settlement, functioned as the administrative centre for the Gastein valley until 1524.
