Ice Caves
The Dachstein-Rieseneishoehle ice cave is amongst the largest in the world. The ice, in parts 25 metres thick, grows in winter but retreats in summer in a delicately balanced annual cycle.

Imperial Burial Vault
146 aristocrats, including 12 emperors and 19 empresses and queens have found their last resting place in this vault under the Church of the Capuchin Friars.

Imperial Castle
The precise origins of Wels castle, built to protect the surrounding agricultural area, are not known but it is first documented in 885, although at this time it was probably rather than stone wooden structure. The castle was remodelled in the early 13th century and later incorporated in the city fortifications.

Imperial Furniture Collection
The ‘Hofmobiliendepot was established in 1747 by Empress Maria Theresa in order to furnish the residences and palaces of the Habsburgs. As a repository for furniture no longer in fashion and with thousands of stored items it became one of the world’s largest museums of furniture and furnishings.

Imperial Silver Collection
These seven rooms in the Hofburg are dedicated to the Silver Collection of the Habsburg dynasty and present the splendour of imperial life. The items on display were made by the most renowned manufacturers in Europe including Meissen, Sèvres, Vienna Porcelain, Minton and Imari.

Imperial Treasury
This is one of the greatest treasuries in the world and contains some of the finest jewellery in Europe. There are some exquisite examples of medieval craftsmanship and exhibits include the crown jewels of the Habsburgs and the Holy Roman Empire.

Imperial Villa
The Kaiservilla was given to the Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elizabeth as a wedding present by Emperor Franz Karl. The childless Franz Karl and his wife, Sophie von Bayern, had previously come to Bad Ischl to take the salt water baths which successfully cured their condition.

Indoor Market
The historic Waaghaus, literally the Balance Hall, was once the property of the Scherffenberger family until 1524, when it was sold to the Linz municipality and attached to the town armoury.
