Greek Church
Located on Fleischmarkt, where Greek merchants traded in meat, the ‘Griechische Kirche’ was built in the mid 19th century. The church was designed by Theophil Hansen in neo-Byzantine style. The red brick façade is offset beautifully with shimmering gilt castellations.

GriechenBeisl
For over five centuries ‘The Greek Inn’ has been a Viennese institution and is one of Vienna’s oldest inns. Artists, scholars and politicians would gather here including such salubrious names as Beethoven, Schubert, Wagner, Strauss, Brahms, Mark Twain and Graf Zeppelin.

Grossglockner Mountain
The Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria at 3797 metres, is set in the wonderful Hohe Tauern National Park. The mountain actually consists of two peaks Großglockner and Kleinglockner, separated by a narrow section, the Glocknerscharte.

Grossglockner Pass
The Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse is one of Europe’s highest and most scenic roads. The 48km route, which follows an ancient trade route linking Northern Italy and Germany, was constructed in the 1930’s under the direction of the engineer Franz Wallach as a job creation scheme.

Grotto railway
The Grottesbahn, a fairy tale ride through underground tunnels on the Dragon Train, is, reputedly, the most popular tourist attraction in Linz. It was built in 1906 in one of the fortification towers constructed on the Pöstlingberg by Emperor Maximilian and was reconstructed after being damaged during the Second World War.

Gunter Grave
The Gunter Grave, which was formerly in the crypt of the abbey church, is a 14th century relief stone sepulchre in the grounds of Kremsmünster monastery.

Gusen Concentration Camp
The Gusen labour camp was a sub-camp of the notoriously brutal Mauthausen concentration camp. The camp housed slave labour used in the construction of a complex of tunnels which were built for the production of petroleum and armaments, the most secret project being the construction of Gemany’s first jet fighter.

Gustinus Ambrosi Museum
Celebrating the life and work of the Austrian sculptor Gustinus Ambrosi, this museum was opened in 1978.

Haas Haus
Once an object of scepticism, this stunning modern architecture is now considered an example of how old and new architecture can combine harmoniously. The architect, Hans Hollein, first unveiled the building in 1990 and the metal-coated glass and polished stone provides great reflective photo opportunities with St Stephen’s Cathedral opposite.
