When you travel to a new country for the first time, what do you prefer to see/visit/know firstly?
Culture, cuisine, architecture, museum, nature, sacred places, everyday life, nightlife.

I don’t want we discuss here such things as price, comforts and so on. In general, what is your preference?

As for me, I like nature very much as nothing can be compared with mountains, oceans, waterfalls, trees, flowers, and etc. An iconic Soviet-Russian singer, songwriter, poet, and actor Vladimir Vysotsky wrote

Quote:
There is one thing that's better than mountains,
And it's mountains that we haven't climbed.

Paraphrasing these lines I can say
Quote:
There is one thing that's better than nature,
And it's nature that we haven't seen.

Hi miracle252,

I voted for architecture. Every historical era is reflected in its architecture. Wherever we go, we see an architecture that speaks about the customs, traditions, patterns of residents of nations and nationalities.

Quote:
"Architecture in general is frozen music."

i prefer to see the nature first... im a nature lover.
the reason why i want to take a travel or trip is to stay away from the polluted environment. It's good to start your vacation with a peaceful mind. Wink

When I visited a country or a place the first thing I do is visit some architecture and museum because you'll have an idea of the history and culture. Once you know something about the place then it's easy to mingle wiht the locals.

Deriving from my traveling experience, the thing that catches my eye first is the architecture. You may never miss all the beauty if you just walk past them, so why not start enjoying it at once? I mean, it is not that I'm too lazy to amaze at everything else Very Happy , but the exquisite buildings strike me first.

Whenever visiting a new country / city, the first thing I like to do is to take a good walk around to see what is where and then pick out a good restaurant for either lunch or dinner and take in the atmosphere and decide on what to do next.

I absolutely love seeing the buildings and the scenery. Then we immerse ourselves in their culture, find out about history and the lifestyle. We've been fortunate enough to see some amazing places and it was a blast.
