Wahahaha! I've been assigned to cover an event in Baguio City, located about 6 hours outside of Manila, nestled in the mountain region of Cordillera. The event is called the "NIVEA for MEN Dare to Care, Dare to Conquer Action and Adventure Expedition."

Sounds to me like adventure racing for metrosexuals!

Events include clay shooting, paintball, an eco-challenge type hike. a formal dinner, all-day spa treatments and, of all things, a slumber party (?!). Regarding the slumber party, the attire is PAJAMAS!!!! Nyahahahahahaahah!

SO, included in my pack should be :
    hiking boots
    black formal shoes
    outdoor clothes and rain protection
    a shotgun
a black tie and jacket (or a barong tagalog, the Philippine equivalent)
pajamas (and bedroom slippers will probly be a plus!)

I can just imagine what will happen here:

You slog through the mud all day following a native guide through the pine forests in the area, swatting at bugs and eating trail mix (lovely!) and wind up at the hotel SPA where you spend the next few hours cleansing and relaxing and taking in those oh so fragrant aromatherapy oils. They recycle the mud from your boots and clothes and smear it on your face as a mudpack. After, you dress yourself up real spiffily in your formal wear and attend the dinner pahty with the other bewildered press people. You smell really good, a stark contrast to all the nicks on your face from the thorns you met on the trail, the scrapes on your knuckles, and that ugly band-aid on your cheek covering the wound you got from tripping on a root. But your skin's really really soft with that mystical Nivea glow.

I promise to post photos of this weird weird mixer.

Wouldn't you know it? I came back from my Baguio Nivea junket being a convert to the strange new world of personal care products for men! My girlfriend would like to extend her personal thanks to the country manager of Nivea hahahahaha!

Photos here:

Richard Gomez, popular Philippine actor, in Paintball Battle Gear

Paintball!

Richard Gomez again, during the "eco-trail hike" which turned out to be a goddamn adventure race. All us press people were loaded with cameras and we were all lumped together into one team made up of pudgy, less than perfect guys and one girl.

Really nice phone booth in Camp John Hay

I was able to get out of John Hay for a few hours so I went to the market and spotted this panhandler.

By the way, sorry these photos are late. My PC crapped up on me and has been in the shop for three weeks.
