I come from the ultra-flat lands of the Netherlands so I go to Britain for the cliffs, hills and mountains but the flat lands in the east of England have natural areas (the Norfolk Coast, Suffolk Coast, the Broads, Dedham Vale, Lincolnshire Wolds) as well.

I haven't been there yet but what can you say from you own experience about East Anglia
(and maybe Lincolnshire). What did you find the best (or great) place to be?

Welcome to the forums!

If I was Dutch and visiting the UK, seeking some thing a little different in terms of landscape, I wouldn't choose East Anglia. Yes, there are some coastal cliffs, etc. (Cromer is a nice spot) but much of the area is flat, much like the Netherlands.

Have you considered the Lake District? Beautiful landscape and more mountainous than other parts of the country.

Yes Paul,

you are absolutely right. I have been in the Lake District a couple of times and it's brilliant.
I do like the more hilly parts of the country but I am interested in experiences concerning East Anglia,

The ferry from Hoek van Holland (the Netherlands) arrives in Harwich (Essex) so when you are in this part of the country you might as well visit some of it's beautyspots.

I have already seen Ely Cathedral, Burghley House and a short glimpse of the Dedham Vale but that's about it.

Lincolnshire is an amzing place to visit for a holiday. One good thing about Lincolnshire is you have so many holiday resorts on your doorstep.

For example if you stayed in Skegness, then you have Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes on your doorstep.

I would also recommend Yorkshire where you have Scarborough.

If you stayed in Cleethorpes then you have the best of both worlds. You have Mablethorpe and Skegness about an hour away and going the opposite direction you have Scarborough and Bridlington and hour away.
