I was on a train in Vietnam and my travelling companion and I had no option other than to get a sleeping compartment for four people - us plus two strangers.
I had the top bunk on one side and zonked out fairly quickly. My pal was in the bunk underneath and a Vietnamese couple were in the two opposite bunks.
I slept fine, and in the morning after enquiring if my pal had enjoyed a good night's sleep too, he seemed to be rather grumpy. It turned out that the Vietnamese guy had been trying to get into bed with him for most of the night. _________________ My books about travel and business |

LOL, ya Kay, I couldn't imagine that he slept very well. Probably with one eye open. I don't really have any entertaining stories. I just know that I felt very uncomfortable sharing a cruise ship cabin with 2 strangers. I'll pay extra for privacy privileges |

| I have a similar-ish story of a couple getting all excited in our compartment on a night train across Eastern Europe. The space is just too small to expect that you won't disturb everyone else! |

| Portland, Maine, to NYC, on a bus wedged between two giant men, both smelly. One was talking to himself, the other fell asleep and started snoring/drooling in my general direction. |

I was in the middle row of an airplane and the woman next to me had a metal mask on. One of her companions asked me to move. It was similar to a burka but metal. I had never seen it before. _________________ Fine art photographer in Maine

I was sat next to a horrible family on the plane.
It was screaming an yelling all the way and two of the kids were sick. _________________ Cycle Accommodation |

My hardest trip was missing a flight connection to find myself (the only grandma) among a dozen ANGRY women. The US Army Troop Transport drivers were to have been on the same flight I missed. The pilot left 15 minutes BEFORE the posted flight time to leave.
... I spent the next 3 hours, listening to the women of the Troop Transport explain over the cell phones to crying 4-5 yr old children that "Mommy is coming home but the plane left me so I must wait for the next one." over and over and over and over again.
Hats off to the ladies in combat boots! YOU have got some kind of stamina!!! |

I had a horrible trip from Versailles back to Paris in the train: It was dreadfully hot, about 35 degress, a train cramped with tired and sweating tourists, you had to stand and cling to the people next to you if you wanted to remain upright and then this Indian (no offense intended) woman took of her shoes, which unleashed the foulest smell I had encountered till that day! I was not able to stand it, had to move the carriage and I wasn´t the only one scores of people changed carriage and in the end she sat there nearly all by herself, seemlingly not having taken notice of anything which had been going on around her! Hilarious |
