| Hello! We will be in York and then wish to travel overland to Wales, ideally starting in the north end and working our way south. We also wish to visit Hay on Wye. It's not easy to find out the best way to do this (with the resources available to us), transport-wise. Any help much appreciated! |

Sorry, neglected to mention we will NOT have a car. We've made some progress on our itinerary since I posted, and I share the Welsh portion of it below.
It looks to me a decent option is to take a train from York to Hereford then on to Hay on Wye by bus. From Hay on Wye it's not far to Builth Wells, then Llanrindod Wells, Rhaader, Devils’ Bridge and finally stopping to sleep over in Aberystwyth. Does this seem realistic for one day's travel? Then on to Snowdonia, where we'd spend the night. Next day ferry across to Dublin. Please let me know if this seems a sensible plan to you and if you have any advice or info to help. Thank you very much! |

All that in one day and then on to Dublin the next...?!
No, that doesn't sound realistic to me. Just York to Hereford on the train will be about 4 hours. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it sure doesn't sound very enjoyable to be rushing about like that...
This is a holiday/vacation, I presume...? _________________ UK Hotels - UK Selfcatering - UK B&Bs - UK Attractions

| Agree that the itinerary unrealistic. What you need to bear in mind is that places like Builth Wells and Aberystwyth don't look a long way apart on a map, but without a car getting from one to the other will take a huge chunk out of your day. For scenery/sights I would focus on Snowdonia. |
