Hello!
I'll be going for a work and travel stint in Chicago this summer! And i'm unsure as to what to do/where to go for the 'travel' bit. I have approx 3 weeks. As it is just going to be me and another girl friend travelling during these 3 weeks, plus we both can't drive, i think it is better and safer for us to take tours. We are interested in city tours and national parks tours. Any recommendations?
It'll be great if it wasn't too expensive either Smile

FYI : our place of departure after the 3 weeks is going to be Los Angeles.

Thanks in advance!

First of all Chicago has great public transit, so there are a lot of fun places you can visit by bus and EL.
Recommendations
CityPass - http://www.citypass.com/chicago?mv_source=field
(A good deal only if you visit all 5 places)

Navy Pier - giant ferris wheel, shopping, restaurants
Architectural cruise - really nice, you’ll see a lot of Chicago’s landmark buildings - and you board at Navy Pier. http://www.chicagotours.us/?event=offer.detail&offerId=1854

Field Museum/ Shedd Aquarium/ Adler Planetarium, all close together, make a day of it
Museum of Science & Industry
Baseball - go see a Cubs game
Shopping - Michigan Ave/Magnificent Mile, bonus the Water Tower and the John Hancock Building (nice observation deck) are right there.

BTW Chicago is famous for deep dish pizza- I like Giordano’s ( various locations)- there is one on Rush St. you can walk over with all your packages

As far as National Parks--I recommend Indiana Dunes and Apostle Islands (Wisconsin) both a day trip. http://www.nps.gov/apis/index.htm

Check out Fermilab--it's about a half hour outside of Chicago and it's a really beautiful place with lots to see and learn.
