Where you coming from? From a nearby country where you can return again without much cost or from a long distance like Europe or N. America? Have you been to Asia before?
If you are flying from long distance you are not getting a good return for an expensive plane ticket!
If your ONLY choices are Laos or Myanmar and you are not that familiar with Asia maybe Laos. But Thailand is an easier break-in country. With Laos maybe easier than Myanmar.
Read up on Visa requirements and currency peculiarities for each country.

| Choose Laos.Myanmar is undeveloped country and there is also lack of security. Overall lack of tourism facilities. But, Laos moderately positive to all of these. |

I haven't been to Myanmar in a few years, but loved it when there. The people are great, food not so much. Travel isn't easy, but isn't too much of a problem. They aren't on the financial grid so you need to bring money with you and exchange on the black market.
Laos is also a great country, changing quickly as money comes in. The food is generally wonderful, the people fantastic and always trying to enjoy life.
Cambodia is a love or hate relationship for most people. I'm on the latter side. If you want to be convinced to come here I'm not the one you want information from.
I've been to all but one province in Laos and would choose to explore more of Myanmar, but would be happy traipsing around Laos yet once again. |

| Having been to Laos i can definitely recommend it. 5 days is plenty of time for Laos, depending on where you are traveling from/how you are getting there. I think i traveled from Bangkok and it was an extremely long and slow journey, I think 25 hours to be precise, but mostly because we took a bus, and then car. However I was with friends so didn't mind too much. The main activity for Laos is Tubing in Vang Vieng, which is extremely fun, and good bars at night, although there was a curfew when I was there. But it did not limit us. However I did not visit any other regions of Laos, because like yourself we only allocated around 4 days to visit there. |

Laos has more developed tourism and might be a bit more easy to visit for only a few days.It is probably worth checking if there are flights to where you want to go, because if you have to spent two days in the bus than there are only three days left which is too short to see any of those countries. Better to go to Thailand instead tehn.
The standard trip through Laos includes Vientiane, Vang Vien and Luang Prabang. These are all connected with each other and offer the highlights of the country, although there is more to see.
Not sure how easy it is (also time-wise) to get around Myanmar. |

| If you have very limited time I would also recommend Vientiane, Vang Vien and Luang Prabang. It's quite easy to get around, there are plenty of sites to visit and the people are very friendly. Myanmar is definitely worth visiting, but I think you'd be better off going when you can spend more time there. |
