If you were asked, what would you consider as the best tourist destination in Asia?
I think I like Hong Kong. How about you? Very Happy

Hong Kong is a rather safe choice.
A great city. But... it's just a city.
Worth a couple of days in between going to or coming from somewhere else.

It's so hard to choose, since there are just so many things that make each country unique. Japan will always hold a special place in my heart as the first Asian country I visited, and certain images - Kamakura covered in snow; sunset over the floating torii of Miyajima; the sun striking the Golden Pavilion of Kinkakuji - are unforgettable.

But how do you compare that to the beaches of Boracay? The frenetic energy of Shanghai? The majesty of Angkor Wat? The utterly unique pleasures of Mumbai? Fortunately, in Asia, travelers are absolutely spoiled for choices. I hope I'll get to cross everything off my checklist in the years to come!

asian countries can be quite different. so it really depends on what you like. I mean it can get from the touristy spot we all the familiar european faces to the wierdest back street experience.

(Repeat post from similar thread on 'best place in Asia')
The opinion of thousands of knowledgeable travellers weighs heavily:

According to readers of the widely read and highly respected travel magazine 'Wanderlust' Angkor Wat is the number 2 'Wonder of the World' for travellers (see Nov 2005 edition) - it is second only to Machu Picchu in Peru and ahead of everything else. The next highest ranking place in Asia is Bagan in Myanmar ranked 31

One of the best places to see is definitely Mongolia so called as the Land of blue sky. Mongolia is a must see in a life time. [url deleted by moderator] Check it out if you're interested.

I think singapore is also better because of its security level and very good transpotation syste. But Hongkong also not going to be second to that

Having only ever been to Turkey, I don't feel qualified to comment. However, I think Thailand would be high on my wishlist.
