Yoga centers are the place of peace. Actually I want a place that would be full of natural beauty and calm. I wanna visit only one place so which of these sites will be more appropriate for me?

I visited Rishikesh early last year, to be totally honest and I hope I don't come across too cynical here... but I was totally unimpressed. I stayed at an "ashram" and it was literally just a guest house/ hostel run by "yogis". There may have been a time in the past when Rishikesh was truly a blissful spiritual place, but these days in my opinion, it's been spoiled by spiritual tourism. Tourists wandering around "finding" themselves whilst "yogi's" are totally taking advantage and are making big money in yoga classes/meditaion and the likes.

If you're in search of a genuine authentic Indian Ashram experience I suggest you research it in advance and don't let yourself be fooled.

Best of luck!

Although the last poster has a point I still think the place is worth a visit. You can find a decent room overlooking the river then just take yoga classes in an ashram. If the water is high it is worth going rafting too.

Rishikesh is one of the most popular pilgrim centres and gateway to the Himalayan Shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The Yoga Centres of Rishikesh have enhanced the significance of the place. From this point on, the great Ganges leaves behind her mountain home and enters the vast plains of Northern India.
