Hello,
I just came over from the U.S. two weeks ago to the city of Berlin for a little vacation time. I have seen many of the sites since entering this historical and diverse city and fell in love with it right away. One place in particular that really got to me was Panoramapunkt at Potsdamer Platz, the sight was truly amazing. It gives you a 360° birds eye view of the whole city of Berlin where you can see many of the city's famous landmarks. It reminds me of its own version of the Empire State Building observation deck in New York City. Trust me you have not really seen Berlin unless you make your way to the top of Kollhoff Tower and gaze upon this view. There is a great little Café up there too where you can relax and enjoy the scenery over a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Another interesting thing to see up there is the "Flying Wall." It's not really a flying wall that would just be ridiculous, but it was nicknamed that after the locals flew a chunk of the Berlin Wall to the top of the building by helicopter. It's now the highest part of the wall in the world and worth taking a look at, just to say you've seen it. Another thing about this building is that its not only about the view but within the building there is also a historical exhibit covering Potsdamer Platz and the trransformations it went through. So basically you get a all in one highlight show; the great view, the wall, some history and even a little bite to eat if you feel so inclined. As you can tell I really enjoyed visiting this site and it probably won't be the last time I go there. I definately recommend it to anyone who is visiting Berlin. |

Thanks for the recommendation. How much does it cost to go to the top of the tower? Is it really crowded like the Empire State building?
Any other ideas for Berlin are great to know about too |

The dome of the Reichstag is another option to viewing the skyline of Berlin. Early in the morning is the best time to get in line to have a short wait. _________________ My flight map. A million miles and counting....Where I’ve been around the globe. |

| You can also get a good view from the victory tower (Berliner Siegessäule.) There is generally no long waits and it only costs a few euro to go up to the top. You have to be fit enough for all those steps though! |

There's also the Television Tower on AlexanderPlatz. I'm assumming they still have the observation deck up at the top....I didn't go my last visit, but I did during my first visit, back in 1984, it was an excellent place to see the contrast between East and West, which has been largely removed. _________________ My flight map. | Yea there's an observation deck and a revolving restaurant at the top. The view is great you can really see the contrast in Berlin architecture from the city hall and cathedral to those awful grey apartment blocks and then modern buildings. |

At the Park Inn on Alexanderplatz there are some great panoramic views as well from the Spagos Restaurant on the top floor. There are often parties on the weekend here which is a rather unique experience .
Even more unique is bungee jumping from the top of the building, haven´t done it, won´t ever, but the views I can imagine leave and indelible image in your mind. |

I was in Berlin for some days, two years ago. I took the metro card and go almost casually in a variety of locations. All of them had some originality which was worth a visit. The final memory was that this town is really unique because of its continuous rebuilding.
So my suggestion is to go anywhere, and enjoy the atmosphere! |

I did that two weeks ago. It is by far my favorite new building in Berlin and when I found out that i could get to the top, I didn't think twice. I think the price with the Berlin card is €6,50,; the price includes binoculars (a €30 deposit is needed).
What can I say? I love Berlin |

| If you like that panorama I would also suggest the Pergamon museum, which is currently exhibiting a Panaroma of what Pergamon would have looked like at its height, about 1700 years ago. Truly incredible exhibit. Plus the museum itself is quite impressive. |

I was in Berlin last year and I also went up the Panoramapunkt. I agree that is is excellent and if you are planning to be in Berlin anyway, then certainly it is worth th effort to visit this attraction.
I also liked Berlin Zoo! |
