|
|
I`ve compiled a list of top Christmas destinations across the USA . Feel free to herald your own city as a favorite Christmas destination or humbug my own suggestions. The following cities or towns have landed on my nice list, are they on yours?
New York, NY- Its no wonder the “Big Apple” winds up at the top of the heap, who else? From the scent of chestnuts roasting on open fires as you shuffle along with the in wonder of the famous 5th Ave. window displays or this years new addition, Saks’ 3D light show on the iconic buildings’ façade, to the big man himself at Macy’s your eyes will light up like the tree at Rockefeller Center. Take in the Christmas village and free access to the ice skating pond at Bryant Park and skate your way into the new year.
Bethlehem ,PA- Founded on Christmas Eve, the “Christmas City” pulls out all the stops to capture the holiday spirit for the entire family. Whether it be breakfast with Santa for the kids, the world renowned Christkindlsmarkt to check all those gifts off your list, or horse drawn carriage rides through the historic downtown for the romantics the charm of Bethlehem doesn´t end there, if you’re lucky you´ll be treated to a White Christmas!
Charleston, SC- The Belle of the Old South becomes the belle the Christmas ball during the holiday season. Leave the holiday rush behind and take a step back in time. Celebrate Christmas as it was in 1860 at the Edmondston-Alston House. The halls are decked and candles are lit as historians in period clothing tell the story of Charleston’s last Christmas before the start of the Civil War. After that y’all can step right in the courtyard and y’all help yourself to some hot cider and Christmas carols sung in the local Gullah style.
Orlando, FL- With a budget similar to that of their blockbuster movies one can be sure Disney World creates Christmas cheer better than the average elf in Santa’s workshop . Feel like a kid again as you twirl about on the teacups, then head over to Main Street to catch "Mickey´s Once Upon a Time Christmas Parade" with complimentary cookies and a cup of hot cocoa, as snow magically falls from the sunny 70° sky above; not bad as your neighbors back home dig their cars out from under the big freeze.
Leavenworth, WA –"Willkommen in Leavenworth" and welcome to the best Bavarian town this side of the Alps or the Cascade Mountains for that matter. This is your Bavarian Christmas Wunderland right in the heart of Washington State. With their stockings overflowing with holiday festivities it’s no wonder Leavenworth consistently ranks as a top Christmas destination.
Christmas, FL- Apparently holiday revelers annually flood the main post office in town with requests for outgoing holiday cards to be stamped “Christmas, FL”. I don´t know if Santa approves but the US Postal Service surely does.

What, no North Pole, Alaska?
I grew up not very far from Leavenworth, WA. Its Bavarian kitsch gets really old, really fast. The crowds there during the lighting ceremony are huge, and it makes getting around difficult. I often wonder how much shops on the main street make that weekend selling stuff compared to patrons breaking stuff. My bah humbug on that one. _________________ My flight map. This holds true for the city of New York for the entire month of December.
Huge crowds sightseeing and shopping especially in Rockefeller Center for the tree and the skating rink.
Some people don't mind it, but I like to stay away during this time. _________________ Lee's Travel Guide

| Well as much as I like New York City for Christmas, I can say that spending Christmas in the Dominican Republic this year has been very good. I can’t remember the last time I spent Christmas wearing short sleeve shirt. |

MBeing a proud Wisconsinite, I say go to Madison. It is a fun city no matter what, plus it is particularly beautiful in winter time. _________________ How I work abroad. Where I travel abroad. |
