|
|
I went to Manchester last March with a friend, we planned it about a month in advance - just wanted to have a quick break away really - and the best bit about the whole trip was the hotel. We stayed in Roomzzz Manchester which is an 'apart-hotel' - which meant that each room had it's own kitchen including a hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster etc, as well as all the cutlery / crockery / utensils you could need. The bathroom was beautiful - felt so luxurious with a huge double shower, underlit mirrors and big white soft towels. We were on the third floor and had a view over the street with huge windows, but we never heard any noise and the blinds meant we weren't woken up early either. There was also breakfast included whichwas 'grab and go' - you just picked it up from the lounge area by reception and could eat it in your room - and there was also a little shop which sold essentials and some nice extras - e.g. coke in glass bottles and hagen daaz ice cream. The staff were lovely, they greeted us each time we came in and were more than happy to give us advice on where to get food etc - it was great being able to have our takeaway delivered to the hotel! It cost us about £120 each for two nights but we upgrade our room on arrival - I think the standard room is less than £100 a night - but regardless, if you want to be in central manchester (near the train station / chinatown / canal street) would def recommend it!
I would always book direct, I have never seen a third party site offering a room any cheaper than their website, and they have deals on from time to time too. |

The rooms are all apartment style - so kitchen / bed / tv / sofa etc are all fairly close. Different rooms have different styles - some are on two levels etc. Some of the bigger suites can sleep up to 6 people with two bedrooms and a sofa bed. Best thing to do would be check the website - http://www.roomzzz.co.uk/manchester-city/
Hope that helps! |

Well... since Roomzzz have been known to spam this board in the past, I'm afraid they don't get my endorsement, not that I've ever stayed with them so it might be nice for all I know.
I have stayed at The Lowry on several occasions, though. For me, that'd be the best hotel in Manchester. It's part of the Rocco Forte Collection and I *think* it might be the only five star hotel in Manchester (but don't quote me on that). It's quiet yet in a good location for access to the city centre.

| I don't endorse company's spamming, but just to prove that I did actually go and stay at Roomzzz Manchester - here's some of my pictures on Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/59678825@N06/ |

| I've stayed in many Manchester hotels over the years for work and pleasure and my favourite remains the Midland Hotel. I always look out for any deals they have and any time my good lady and I head to Manchester for a show or a weekend break we choose the Midland as she loves it too. And if she's happy, I'm happy! |

| i always stay at the Gardens hotel. Its only a 3-star so wont be to everyone's tastes, but its overlooking piccadilly gardens, bang in the centre of where you want to be. |

My work colleague is very money conscious and booked me into the Travelodge Oldham... dont ever recommend staying there. In the evening three cars and a van were broken into, we woke up to police officers everywhere. And there were a lot of late night ladies wondering in and out throughout the evening... not a great experience.
My wife and I have stayed at the Lowry and that was very nice and worth the additional expense, although I couldnt afford it regularly. |

| I too have stayed in [advert for Roomzzz, who caramel101 - aka Biana - works for - now banned] and it was fantastic. They did an offer of 15% off if you book online during certain dates a few months back and i got a 1bed apartment for £65 for the night. Really well located and the staff were great, will be going back when i next visit Manchester. |

| It might be the answer you expect (and I do not work for them) but in Manchester I would use Premier Inn. Solid brand and several based in Manchester. If you have the money then fair enough, a 4 or 5 star hotel in the centre of the city can be good. Otherwise at least you know what you are getting in Manchester with Premier Inn. |

| Just read your post and it seems that you have enjoyed your trip a lot. It also seems that the hotel which you have chosen is indeed the best. I am looking forward to stay in that hotel next time I visit London. |
