There are several ways of experiencing Himalayas. It is rather wide and falls in several country specially Nepal, Bhutan, Indian, Pakistan and Tibet. The experiences of different place is different. I recommend you Trekking in Nepal, Bhutan Tour and Tibet Tour as a best Himalayan experience.

Note : I have explores almost every places of the above countries, so was not sure which one should I mention.

Trekking in Nepal
There are hundreds of treks in the Himalayas of Nepal from easy to challenging ones. The most famous are Annapurna, Everest and Langtang. You can stay in tea - houses and trek from villages to villages.
Tibet Tour
You can drive almost everywhere in Tibet as the landscape is mostly plateau. So one can easily experience Himalayas driving form place place. The most famous tours are Lhasa Everest North Base camp and Mt. Kailash Tour.

Bhutan Tour
Bhutan is known as Tibet outside of Tibet. It is where Buddhism and Tibetan culture were kept intact for centuries. Visit to this pristine land is regulated by government and the tour cost is pretty high.

the himalayas are just too beautiful but while visiting them one has to remember that near the himalayas or while going to them, you cannot expect too luxurious settings or accommodations, the hotels are small and barely have the essentails to make a decent living, the roads are bad and the jeeps and 4 wheels are just in the working order esp in pakistan and india as i have been there - it has been 4 to 5 years so i cannot say if things have improved but it is better to make enquiries and know beforehand what kind of place you will get to stay

If you visit Himalayas even once in a lifetime, you will understand why it is called paradise on Earth. Millions of people come to visit Himalayas each year for mountain trekking and wildlife viewing.

Himalayas are not always about roughing it up. There are luxurious hotels and transportation to different places in the core of Himalayas.

1) Everest Region
The best way to experience Mt. Everest is by taking a helicopter or charter Pilatus Porter flight to Everest View Hotel at Shyangboche (3,700 m). The hotel provides 5 star luxury at that altitude.

2) Annapurna Region
Jomsom Mountain Resort at 2,800 m provides luxurious stay with a magnificent view of Nilgiri in Annapurna Range. 18 mints flight from Pokhara will take tourist to the trans-Himalayan region of Annapurna. Hotel with inside swimming pool and other luxury make you feel comfortable like in home at all weather.

3) Lhasa - Everest Base Camp
1 hrs flight from Kathmandu will take you to the holy city of Lhasa at 3,600 m. From there one can take a comfortable land cruiser drive to Everest Base Camp at 5,500 m staying in deluxe hotels.

Hi,
I never been for trekking to Himalaya but I had been many times in diffrent parts of Nepal.

Don't miss to visit Nagarkhot and a night stay in a hotel Club Himalaya would be great, if this isn't possible for you then at-least have lunch at this great place with the view of Himalaya peaks.

have a great trip.

same here...being an India, I really feel ashamed to say that I haven't visited the Himalaya. Eventhough it is too far from my place, I really need to visit this place atleast once in my life..
