hey my fiance has got a criminal record but we would really like to go to new york, he was convicted last june for one account of battery, criminal damage and resisting arresting.
And when he was 16 he got a caution by the police.
i was just wondering wether he would be allowed into the us or not, and would he be eligable to get a visa?
if you could get back to me
thank you

Moved to the USA forum... you'll find quite a lot of other posts on Aardvark about entry into the US for people with convictions if you click on 'Search' up at the top as it's a question that's been asked quite a few times. Maybe some of those can help. _________________ UK Hotels - UK Selfcatering - UK B&Bs - UK Attractions

Go to the US Embassy London Web site, assuming he is a UK citizen. They have extensive information on visa applications, and do stress that an arrest or conviction is not an automatic disqualification from receiving a visa, although it could be used as a basis to deny one. There are a few videos from their YouTube channel as well describing the process.
Because he has an arrest and conviction, he will have to disclose that and will not be eligible for entry through the visa waiver program, and he'll have to apply for a visa. The decision of whether or not your fiance will get a visa or be denied one will be made by an official at the Embassy.
The best bet, should you really want to make the trip, is to apply. _________________ My flight map. A million miles and counting....Where I’ve been around the globe. |
