|
|
Hi all!
I'm going to be spending some time in Northern Europe in June/July/August this year, and Greenland and Iceland are two countries around there that I'd really love to experience.
Only thing is this is all being done on my six-week-long University break, and I'm planning on visiting other countries, so I won't have much time in Greenland and Iceland! Can anyone here recommend the best one or two places in these countries for me to visit? Is it best for me to just visit the capitals of each of them and hike around the area and take daytrips out, or are there better places to spend my time where I'll get a better feel for the culture?
Cheers if anyone can help me out!

I can't speak for Greenland, but in Iceland, Reykjavik is worth 3-4 nights (make sure to include a weekend). You can either rent a car to do the golden circle route or join a bus tour which most hotels will help you arrange. You'll also want perhaps to take advantage of the Blue Lagoon Spa. Its conveniently located between Reykjavik and Keflavik, where the airport is.
Air service to Reykjavik from Europe is either through Icelandair (www.icelandair.com) or Iceland Express (http://www.icelandexpress.com). _________________ My flight map. A million miles and counting....Where I’ve been around the globe. |

Thanks! That's really helpful - I've heard great things about Reykjavik, so I guess I'll definitely get that on the itinerary then!
If anyone has information on Greenland too that would be fantastic, because I've searched this forum and the Internet in general and no one's really been to Greenland haha, so information on it from a backpacker's perspective is quite hard to find! |
