You'd be mad to try and buy the stuff in Asia, particularly Thailand! The jail isn't known as the Bangkok Hilton for nothing you know!

The Thai police are particularly good at being in the right place at the right time, with many dealers tipping them off in return for a few baht!

In Bangkok hostels, the walls are full of notes asking tourists to visit Western tourists who are experiencing an extended stay in a Thai prison. They all have pitiful stories of how they were caught for a small amount of weed, or were wrongly convicted, and now they're stuck in a Thai prison where not even the guards can speak any English! "Please visit 'joe bloggs'. He's in 'somesuchprison' for 20 years and his family can't/won't visit him..." is the usual message. They even give details of what to ask the tuk tuk driver to get there, or bus numbers if it's easier to find.

Every now and again you read stories of how some bloke offers you a deal, tips off the cops, meets you later at which point you are bundled into a police truck never to be seen again!

Sounds extreme, but it's a risk you take if you attempt to buy weed in Thailand.

You may come across other travellers with their own supply along the way, but you'd be desperate to risk incarceration on a rice and water diet for the next 20 years!

Dan.

I don't touch the stuff myself but plenty of travellers did when I was there.

Everything Dan said is true - my tip is find another likeminded individual and piggyback from them - get them to do all the sorting out and purchasing and just give them the money for it afterwards. That way you can keep well away if it goes Taped Shut up.

Harsh I know but there you go - better than an extended stay in the Black Tiger

Paul - I've edited your post, as we have members of all ages on here. The gist of your post is still clear, but please refrain from any inappropriate language in future.

Thanks for your contribution too.

You might be better off traveling to Amsterdm.

Weed is legal there.

why are you soooo stupid?
do you want to see something from the really pretty land or do you only want to smoke and hang around and after holiday you remember nothing about the best days of the year?
When the second is true, then go to the netherlands; there cannbis is legal.

Better not visit Thailand if you have such intention!

There is the famous Prison in Bangkok nick names ' Bangkok Hilton' !

So beware! Find out more about the 'Bangkok Hilton' first rather than finding out if you can get your fix of Cannabis in Thailand!

Good Luck!

The cancer risk from cannabis makes cigarettes look tame. It could never be legalised as it would not get through the safety / health approvals as a new consumer product.
Choose life.

don't bother looking in bangkok you will only get yourself into trouble. but, if you really want, find a nice bar like bamboo bar off soi sukhumvit and ask the friendly girls but do not ask just anyone. once on ko phag nan - it is not a problem except on haad rin beach - the main backpacker beach where cops bust everyone. if you go to quiet side of island like over at haad yao beach - you can purchase anything with no problems as long as you do not take anything off the beach itself. on ko samui you should be able to get what you want but be careful - the more touristy it is - the more dangerous it is to buy stuff. do not buy anything from people on the street, its not worth it.

within the last 2 years Thai cops shoot over 3 000 dealers and users.
That way they can confiscate victims property without the court order.

don't even think about bringing stuff back home

the general rule when I was there was that if you were caught you had a 6 month jail sentence or a 50000 baht fine. The police make a point of searching travellers as its a very easy source of income for them. Some dealers are also working with the police, they'll sell you marijuana then call the police, they'll get a commision for it. I like a smoke myself but I didnt go near it in Thailand, it's really not worth the risk

I agree with paul the bishop--latch on to someone who knows here to get it. I stopped using th stuff years ago but still run into people who are regular smokers.

It is not my concern to tell you what good or bad is so :
it is very easy to get BUT :
- buy only if you know the guy for more then 10 seconds
- ther is a heavy penalty for buying and an even bigger when you are using. It is an easy extra for policemen...
- do it where you are safe : you will not be the first to be left butt naked ina hotelroom after using...
- I tried it once in Ton Sai and it wasn't even close to good stuff.....
