Personally I look for several things and they include:

- Original and new content (i.e. something new)
- Information on unusual things and places to see and visit
- Information for traveling with children
- Pictures really help and make it much easier to read a travel blog.[/list]

Find a niche that's of interest to you. Many of the best travel blogs focus on a particular niche that makes them different and IMHO you'll find you 'keep at it' more if that niche reflects your own interests.

Thanks all for your feedback, I think if I am to continue I need to revise how one or two things. More pics definitely seems high on the agenda. Thanks again.

I'm with johnny_mac and dwibre - lots of photos. For some reason my brain just shuts down when all I see is text. Probably says more about me than the blog mind you! Razz

I like to read travel blogs that are entertaining and a little off the beaten track. I like to things that you won't find in the advertising brochures. When a writer Imprints their own personal style it makes it more interesting to me.

A travel blog must be informative, you can write about places you have visited, talking about your experiences, your trips and tips on how to spend great holidays. People who like travelling would like to discover new places besides to know the weather in places they want to go to, which clothes to take with them...etc, and of course you can share original pictures.

I guess sharing icons are fairly important these days too - people want the option to share especially when they see something they approve or aspire to, or find funny.

Niche I think is the way to go. Be specific, you will not be able to interest or please everyone. Savings! Everyone likes to make savings when on a trip.

As has been said already - a niche is important. I'd also say the following:

1) easy to navigate
2) pictures say a thousand words
3) a good writing style to engage the reader
4) original content
5) something to make your blog and content stand out - If you don't grab the reader in the first 10 seconds, they will be gone.

for me very important are photos, information about local culture and advices how to behave in particular country/culture/place to avoid offending anyone. i always get very excited when i can read practical info about travelling itself - e.g. easy and cheap ways to getting to particular destination - i'm a student so it's very important to me. it would be great if your blog could help people to travel around the world Smile

I look for blogs that provide useful information about the places they're writing about. I personally dislike those blogs that are too subjective to the point that they only discussed about how they felt about their travel, what he did with his friends, and so on.

I like more informative travel blogs that will tell you how to go that place, what are the options, what can you see and do there, and most of all, a travel blog that posts great photos.
