Countryside.

Blackpool isn't really my idea of a fun day out, although the kids do seem to enjoy it.

My favourite beach has to be Newborough on anglesey (Ynys mon) nothing there only sea, sand and pine forest not spoiled by fast food outlets or souvenir shops. hope it stays that way. you walk through the sand dunes down a path about 100yds, then it opens out to a vast expance of sand, on a summers day it is paradise.

If you haven'y tried a [removed] near you then don't miss out. Go to link removed for family fun for a fiver! Solve the clues to see the sights with family or friends. Solve a murder mystery, find the location of buried treasure or play James Bond in a spy Trail. Great fun at your own pace for young or old alike.

Perhaps you'd care to read the board rules before you post again, David?

We went to the Great Yorkshire Show last week which was a fantastic day out! Out little one was maybe a little too little to fully appreciate the show (8 months) but I would certainly recommend families checking it out next year!

I've heard its a good event though I've never been. This weekend, if the weather holds, we might pop along to the Cumbria Steam Gathering which usually makes for an enjoyable family day out.

Cumbria's a bit far for me to travel for a day out - although we keep promising ourselves a trip to the Lakes soon!

We're thinking of going to Lost in the Forest tomorrow. It's a new festival from the people behind Beached - which will be a massive miss for Scarborough this year (they're taking a year off)

Having said that, might just got to the cricket instead! Smile

I do not think you can beat Paignton in Devon on a nice sunny day. The only problem is finding nice sunny days in the UK Very Happy

Paignton Zoo is excellent, the beach not bad and I just like the feel of the place. The smell of the ocean breeze and a pasty and cream tea and a decent local pint of cider.

North Wales is always a favourite for us and only an hour down the road. Llandudno is a lovely day out (especially if the sun is shining - does that ever happen in this Country!!)

Also the Lake District is great - especially for giving the dog a good run. It is very dog friendly so we always like to pay a visit!

Afternoon all!

Well, since we got a Beamish pass earlier this year, we have been back 4 or 5 times. It's a "Living History" museum not far from Newcastle, and I love it. There's far too much to see and do in a single trip, and as we knew we wouldn't need to pay to get in again, we've taken our time over seeing everything. And even though they're only 21 months, our girls love riding the open-top tram and the 1913-era farm.

And I love the 1913-era pub (selling very good beer) and sweet-shop (which makes its own cinder toffee)!

Highly recommended.
