Is anybody else as sick of LAX as me? Particularly the Tom Bradley Terminal.
- The endless lines that actually spill onto the street
- The airline lounges that don't even have bathrooms
- No real shopping
- Drab decor
- Incredibly confusing security
I think Miami may come a close second, but I'd like to hear other people thoughts. _________________ www.travellersmeetingpoint.com |

| I felt about the same about JFK New York as y say about LAX. Don't know about the long queue as we had a connecting flight, but the bathrooms were rare to be found an dirty, not a lot of shopping possibilites, no real bar for a drink (comfortable if you have to hang around for 4-5 hours). It's not an airport I very much look forward to of visiting agian. |

Ha!...I think you've hit all three of the nasty ones.
The American Airlines dometic area at JFK is not bad, but the international departure area (T8 if I recall) is like a dungeon.
Lucky for me all my international departures from LAX have not been out of TBIT....not that AA's T4 is anything to get excited about.
Miami? <<shudder>> |

Sooooo true! I think you'll be happy to know that the Bradley Terminal is now undergoing a huge ($575 million) renovation, new gates, ticketing area, baggage-screening areas (supposedly no more lines outside the building), new luxury lounges, more restrooms, new and better signage, new etc etc etc., adding about 45,000 square feet of space to the terminal. The project is scheduled for completion in March 2010.
My nighmare experiences have all been at LHR. Once I got caught up in a strike and once a complete loss of power to the terminal. _________________ A sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to your steps as you walk the tightrope of life--W.A. Ward |

I used LAX a number of times over the years, and this is one airport that I always had tough time killing time. Not that LAX is the worst airport in the world; many airports are unfortunately even a lot worse. However, LAX is presumably one of more important international airports, and given that, the airport is poorly designed and poorly operated.

I'm not 100% sure if making it bigger would make it a better airport. Schiphol, for example, is a relatively small airport, but it's very well managed. Also it feels like it has everything that a standard international airport has to have. _________________ Online Education :: Career Development Forum

I guess that I'm not that enlightened ...
I seem to remember that I was pretty pissed off even when I was at airports that were supposedly some of the best airports in the world ...

Brilliant - I wondered why I couldn't get up to the lounges a few weeks ago and they were trying to bus me to somewhere that looked like it was in the runway. Bring on the renovations!!! _________________ www.travellersmeetingpoint.com |

Yeah, until someone reports you for acting suspiciously. Remember you're British and thus not allowed to make any eye contact with other people, especially at Heathrow. Of course you could try smiling at them - maybe we need a 101 guide to getting arrested in UK airports!
As for worst airports, erm, well only been to Heathrow and Calgary so can't comment too much, but I'd say Calgary the staff are more friendly but Heathrow has more shops.

Oh, by the way, "Décalage horaire / Jet Lag" is my fantasy airport sleepover (this story is actually nothing special, but Juliette Binoche makes all the difference in the world). I'm waiting for this day to come, but it hasn't happened yet ... (and maybe this is why I'm pissed off at airports most of the time ...) _________________ Online Education :: Career Development Forum

The worst airport in my book is Frankfurt just the plain layout of this airport is wrong. Not to mention where are the freaking toilets where are the shops (and i don't mean the one or two at close to your gate.
Just the thought that this is a reasonable new airport makes you think _________________ GHPtravel,

| Ah...just had an email from a friend getting ready to depart for Paris. I forget that a big pit of an airport is Washington Dulles. |

I hate Heathrow.... absolutely hate it. You fly in on a local flight then get on a bus that drives you 30 miles around the outside of the airport to drop you at a door from where you then walk a further 3 miles to the transfer area, only to have to walk another couple of miles to your next gate, from where you get driven 31 miles back to the plane you parked next to when you landed.... _________________ Track your Euros here
