Hey,
There is a topic on this forum with the title 'Favourite Places in UK', but what about the worst places you have stayed in the UK.
Maybe you had a bad holiday experience, or thought the place didn't seem friendly?
Would love to hear all views on this.
Thanks. _________________ Visit hotel website |

Hard for me to say really as I'm one of these people who tries to see the good in everywhere. Seeing as I'm from Burnley though I'm gonna say Blackburn. |

| I would say Hamilton in the UK is the worst place I've stayed in! |

I love it anyplace in the UK but that's me being optimistic
Well, if I really need to name a place, I didn't particularly enjoy Derby. It might use a good clean and more police, if you know what I mean. But even there, I liked the Derby Industrial Museum. So, if you happen to be nearby, check the museum... but don't go to the night-clubs if you're not on friendly terms with some local guys _________________ Terracotta Warriors | Tutankhamun Exhibition | Visit Dorset |

For me it's got to be Paignton on the south west coast. A typical and horrible run down sea side resort. I went there for a sailing event and hated every second I wasn't on the water. _________________ Custom made restaurant and hotel recommendations Give it a shot |

This is a tricky question to answer but off the top of my head I would say
Oldham
Bradford
Scunthorpe
Rotherham
Mansfield
All northern towns that I have had the misfortune of visiting. Very bleak and could not wait to escape from. _________________ For the very best holidays to Italy please visit Vivid Italy. | Hull was voted worst town in the UK although I haven't been. A lot of the towns in the North a bit dark and depressing. The weather doesn't help of course. |

Oh dear, that is not very nice for all of us based 'Up Norf'
What about LIverpool - voted European Capital of Culture, Chester, The Lakes, North Wales - are all these dark and depressing?
At least up north, you can have a nice friendly conversation! |

Newport in South Wales is pretty bad. I don't like Coventry much, that place seems very depressing with all the 60s style concrete buildings! _________________ "A hotel isn't like a home, but it's better than being a house guest." - William Feather. Hotels Cheltenham |

"Come, lovely bombs, and fall on Slough..."
would apparently be John Betjeman's take on this theme
and of course in The War of the Worlds, HG Wells has the Martians destroy the commuter towns west of London!
Plenty of towns in the South are depressing too (I've yet to hear anything nice about anywhere much in Essex, for example). I might list some of the towns in North Wales, but the countryside surrounding them is so stunning I think it makes up for it! |
