|
|
Hello
I plan to eat three meals in three different countries in one day
Starting with breakfast in my home country then heading to the nearest airport and catching a flight to a country of my choice within a reasonable distance, have a short look around then get some lunch then fly onto another country to have an evening meal and then fly back home...and do this all within one day
I going to do it the cheapest way possiable using non budget airlines and aim to do the whole trip for around £250 if not cheaper!
what do you think??
Thanks
Paul |

Are you counting Scotland and/or Waless as seperate for the purposes of this trip? If so I'd say it's probably pretty do-able. Even if you aren't then you've got plenty of close choices: Ireland, France, Belgium & Holland, to start with.
Why not use budget airlines though? surely that's going to help keep the price down massively, and it's not like you're likely to be on any of the flights for *that* long, even if it is a bit cramped and uncomfortable.
Anyway, interesting idea, good luck with it! _________________ car hire Italy - car hire France - car hire Spain |

Does there have to be a point?
I'd suggest doing lunch in the one furthest away. Perhaps Berlin, and then dinner in Brussels, and then return to your home that evening. Sounds like a fun day, provided everything is on time. _________________ My flight map. A million miles and counting....Where I’ve been around the globe. |

How about lunch in Vatican City and then dinner in Rome?
Or fly to Nice, have lunch there and then dinner in Monte Carlo?
Or maybe lunch in Lugano Switzerland and dinner in Como, Italy?
No need for flights between lunch and dinner with these options, therefore making it easier to stay within your budget.
There are too many options to list them all!! _________________ Lee's Travel Guide

Hmm...now that I think about it.
On one trip, we woke and had breakfast in Liechtenstein
lunch in Switzerland, and
dinner in Italy. _________________ My flight map. A million miles and counting....Where I’ve been around the globe. |

I would be even more impressed if you have 5 meals in 5 countries in one day.
3 would NOT be that unusual as anyone who travels a lot would have done that. You will often be eating in 2 countries anyway as you eat lunch on an airplane and then at the destination country and breakfast perhaps in departure country.
Go for 5 in 5 countries in one day!!! |

But I found some really great airfares advertised on Ryanair.com
As low as £1 to or from certain destinations on one leg of the flight. I was thinking of renting a car to go from London to Edinburgh, but they have a flight from London to Glasgow for something like £20pp RT. Could just rent a car when we got there. The only downside for us is missing seeing the country. Part of the reason for us to be there. |

I wonder if you menat to put your response in another thread, golfgal, but I'll respond here.
Have you considered the train to get up to Scotland? Yes, Ryanair does advertise fares from as low as one euro, but that doesn't include tax, baggage check fees (bag weight limits are strictly enforced), and there will be a charge for checking your clubs. Keep in mind all of these add ons, and check other airlines. British Airways may be more expensive for the fare, but you'll not be charged to check a bag, nor your clubs, likely. _________________ My flight map. I was just giving possible money saving travel advice for the OP who wanted to visit several countries in one day... but thank you for the heads up on the hidden charges from Ryanair. Last I checked the train fares, they were very high for two - the airfare I found was much less and fuel for driving was about the same. Unlike driving from LA to San Francisco where there is really nothing to miss by flying, I suspect the drive and all the scenery are worth the extra time and cost. |

It sounds like an... interesting, if expensive idea Surely you'd rather stay at these 3 places a little longer! _________________ [Cheap car hire prices for all your destinations]{Blog} |

Think I've done this on more than one occasion....maybe even getting in 4 meals in 4 countries (yes, OK, I know I need to watch my weight more...!)
Last year, I had a trip from Newcastle, with early breakfast around 4:30am at the airport, flting to Paris CDG (second breakfast around 9am) and then on to Bilbao for a client meeting, followed by lunch (around 2:30pm) before getting a flight to Munich (via Majorca, if I remember rightly) and having dinner on arrival in Munich at about 9pm.
Now three continents - that would be impressive _________________ Track your Euros here

Just because something is possible, doesn't mean it is a good idea to do it.
If you have 3 meals in 3 different countries because you are travelling through them as part of a journey somewhere than that is one thing. Flying to 3 different locations:
Is not going to be an enriching travel experience
Will consume more of the finite supply of oil to no real purpose
Will contribute to Global Climate Change
I would be far more impressed if someone bought three meals for the hungry on three continents, say Africa, South America and Asia. _________________ Google Profile |

Is there a PR motivation behind this?
You could save the carbon emissions on flying and opt to do breakfast in Wales, lunch in England and dinner in Scotland! _________________ Wren Elite Travel
