Well, I have been in several cities in Spain: madrid, Toledo, Vigo, Coruna, Sevilla, and more... but the best of all is Barcelona, no doubts!!!

Great parties, nice art, moderate weather, modernism, beaches, discos, bread w/tomato, people from anywhere, museums, Sagrada Familia... and much more!!!!

Barcelona is the greatest city not only in Spain but in the whole Europe!!!

emmataylorm, why do you feel the need to hide the fact that you are from Spain and not the UK?

Your post will still be meaningful if you list your real location.

While Barcelona is fantastic, my favorite is San Sebastian. It has it all.

Hello,
With no doubt I can say that Barcelona is the best place for me, no matter that Madrid is the capital and more people wants to go there. First of all, this city attract more tourist not only for the economic aspects, rather than the historical. Also have in mind the multi-culture there and the marvelous beach locations or places to go.
Second, the accommodation is quite satisfying comparing with Madrid. As a tourist you can find great variety of cheap flats Barcelona[] close or far away from the central points.

Regards, Aaron

Although I live in Nerja I cannot honestly say it is my favourite place in Spain!

Barcelona is fantastic of course but my vote has to go to Granada. The Alhambra is one reason but the whole package of the old town on the Albaicin, the tapas bars, the Sierra Nevada looming in the distance, the hidden corners everywhere! A wonderful city!

Hi Cerys

Maybe you should post a new topic to ask about Madrid, and what people think are the best places in the city to visit. Never been there myself, but its on my very long list!

Barcelona seems the most rated. I never traveled in Spain, I think this town will be my first visit there... there is also a lovely boat directly from Livorno Cool

If you're young (under 30 years old) Barcelona is your first destination.
If you are from 30 to 45 North Spain is your first choice.
Are you more than 45, go South!
For me for business reasons Valencia is my destination.

Of course Barcelona! If you like unique culture, sea, sand, sangria, arts and nightlife there is no better place to go!
I would strongly reccomend the clubs nearby the beach in Villa Olimpica, you can have fun until early in the morning! Smile

I would love to hear more about the nightlife and clubs please. Smile

Thanks Michael
