OK, so we all know of various low-price airlines flying from the UK to major European destinations, but not generally from far North of London (with perhaps Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham being the exceptions).

My friend wants to fly to Tours (in France) from as near to Leeds as possible to keep costs down.

Is a bus to London and lowest priced flight there the best option, or does anyone know of an airline operating from a regional UK airport to Tours that may offer a cheaper deal?

Is the airline industry still neglecting the 50 million Britains living outside of London?

Dan.

Where are they based and wheres Tours near to as most of these airlines don't fly into major airports?

These seem to be the only ones that might get somewhere near...

FlyBe.com
BMI Baby
Easyjet

However, non of them seem to go to Tours and theres no mention of Leeds airport or infact anything in Yorkshire that I could see - whats wrong with Yorkshire that they know and we don't? Very Happy

Trev

Thanks Trev. I suspect my Frnch friend is going to need to travel to Manchester or Stanstead for a low fare, but I'll search the suggested airlines anyway. Mathieu hasn't started searching UK sites, but was trying from the French end of the journey.

He's trying to buy a flight for this weekend, as his girlfriend is at uni in Lyon, so I guess he has transport between Tours and Lyon arrangeable. Mat says he's check Easy before, but they fly to Geneva, and the train to Lyon is too pricey.

The search goes on.

Of course there is an airport in Yorkshire, it is at Leeds Bradford home to the budget airline Jet2.com. Unfortunately they don't fly to Tours. The budget airline that does is Ryanair from London Stansted.
Its up to you as it is not exactly free getting to London Stansted.

Thanks for the tip John -

I flew to Paris from Manchester a few weeks back as the latest flights from LeedsBradford to CDG depart at 1700. LB is obviously nice and close to us here, but seems not to offer the services needed to compete with STanstead or Luton (or Liv or Man for that matter). I doubt any regional operator is going to match EasyJet or RyanAir fares from the major UK gateways, but there is a gap in the market that no-one is exploiting currently.

Thanks for tying down which operator flies to Tours; I'll tell Mat when I see him next.
