Japan Airlines System Corp., Asia’s biggest carrier, will cancel as many as 115 flights by its domestic unit Japan Air System Co. today to carry out emergency checks on planes built by McDonnell Douglas Corp., now part of Boeing Co. The checks today will disrupt the travel plans of 7,000 passengers, the Tokyo-based airline said. The carrier on Monday suspended services by 19 MD-81 and MD-87 aircraft for emergency checks. The carrier decided to check the planes after two of them encountered engine problems in flight on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7.
