Seems like a stupid question but we have been thinking for a long time about leaving the UK to live in Australia or NZ. Both have a lot of the things we are looking for, but which country would be easiest to integrate into, for people from England?
What do you think? _________________ Manchester Forum |

most people would go for australia, because you have more money left at the end of the month. and its a big country, so your lifestyle depends on where you go: dawrin is different from sydney is different from hobart is different from melbourne ...
in new zealand there are really only 2 big cities and more or less villages in between, and the only difference is the amount of rain they get per year.
dont know the situation for people from commonwealth countries, but it generally harder to get into australia. i assume your name must be "mikey" or you must have been arrested at least once to get an australian citizenship - check out http://www.australia.gov.au/ for more info. _________________ The cheap way to explore australia: Backpacker ride share & road trips |

Although I can't speak from actual experience ... There is this spot called Milford Sound in New Zealand and I've read it's like ...
]Milford Sound has dramatic scenery and views of the distinctive Mitre Peak and here you are likely to see fern filled forests, spectacular waterfalls, ice carved mountains and aquatic wildlife. This is the most photographed area in the whole of New Zealand and while on par with the Grand Canyon in grandiosity, nothing can prepare you for the towering granite spires, unpredictable weather and shear wilderness of the sound.
When I read this ... I thought ... that sounds like what it would be like in England.
Now if only I had the opportunity to go to both these places to find out for myself ... I'd be happy.
Until then, I'll live vicariously through anyone who has.

Hmm I can't speak much about which between Australia and New Zealand is more like England, cause I haven't exactly been to England. I did visit Milford Soundwhen I was holidaying there recently however, and ... it's like a small lake surrounded by tall towering cliffs all around. There are plenty of waterfalls all around these cliffs, making Milford Sound a very beautiful scenic place. When rain falls, there are more waterfalls, making it even more picturesque!
I love New Zealand's South Island for its natural scenery. And other than Wellington and Auckland you can opt to stay in Christchurh as well, or if your work has links with the travel/tourism industry you can probably stay in Queenstown! _________________ Unearthing Asia - A Travel Blog focusing on Culture, Lifestyle and Attractions all around Asia. http://unearthing-asia.com |

My belief is that NZ is more like England used to be a sort of step back in time. Oz is more modern and far more cosmopolitan. Just my opinion. _________________ Visit New Zealand Holidays |

I'd say New Zealand was a lot more like England than Oz in terms of landscapes and weather, but Oz is more like England in terms of people. I dunno, NZ just seemed very 'English' when I was there! _________________ http://www.holidayhelpme.co.uk

If you take my opinion, each place has it's own charm...but for the animal lovers and nature lovers I think other than Australia it would be lovely to play with the koalas in New Zealand. For more tips on good locations to travel check out this site which is filled with all such wonder destinations... _________________ [SIGNATURE FILE PRIVILEGES REVOKED] |

You never bothered to answer the original question here, which makes me suspect you've been to neither Australia or New Zealand. Further, just as a reminder, you'll not find koalas in New Zealand. _________________ My flight map. A million miles and counting....Where I’ve been around the globe. |

Koalas in New zealand? you should be lost. Architectural designs of London is a lot like Australia than NZ... and some dining experience most especially in Sydney's The Rocks is like a benchmark of London. _________________ RV hire USA |

Definitely Australia would be my bet for this. Because of the fact that Australia seems to had more attractions and i guess this is more likely compared to England rather than New Zealand. _________________ Looking for a jobs in australia - PrincipalVisas.Com |

Sheesh - the answers on this post must have come from a lot of Aussies who've never been to England. NZ is much more like England. Oz is hot and dry, has spiders, snakes, crocodiles, poisonous fish. New Zealand has soft green rolling country, gentle green rain forests, majestic mountains, fiords to beat Scandinavia. And much more laid back easy-going people.
Do I sound a bit one-eyed? Nah - couldn't be!
In fact until the recent earthquakes they used to say that Christchurch was the most English city outside of England. Cambridge in the North Island is a carbon copy of an English village.
And don't let any Aussie con you (they'll do that) that it is cheaper to live in Australia than New Zealand. Auckland and Wellington (the most expensive cities in the country) are ranked way cheaper than Sydney or Melbourne by reputable international rating agencies. _________________ David Morris
