I learned that pickpocketing is a very serious problem in buses in India. Even locals tell me not to use buses, so ... don't use buses in India if you visit India as a tourist. _________________ Online Education :: Career Development Forum

That's a great question. If you're from one of western countries, then you can just use 3-wheeler, which is like taxi/cab. It's not that cheap in Indian standard, but it's not that expensive for those from western countries. Locals typically drive motorcycles or scooters. They're most useful in cities in India. Metro/subway is supposedly safe and easy to use, but the main problem is that it's still under development.
