i will travel to uk this october. and my itinerary is in here:

london---birmingham---edinburgh---windermere---birmingham---penzance---land's end---st ives---bristol(a day trip to bath)---salisbury(a day trip to stonehendge)---london

what do u think? is it good enough for a 17 days trip? any good suggestion for the above places?

The train tickets i will buy for this trip are:
1. london---birmingham (open return)
2. birmingham---edinburgh (open return)
3. birmingham---penzance (open return)
4. bristol---salisbury (open return)
if i am using the young person railcard, what is the price for each ticket?

Also, is it possible for me to get off the train at the way of return? e.g. a open return ticket from birmingham to edinburgh. can i get off the train at oxenhelme(station to windermere) when i am returning from edinburgh to birmingham?

This seems an incredibly ambitious schedule.
Most of your logistical questions on the trains can be answered by going to http://www.thetrainline.com . You can see the schedules also as well as getting fares.

You might also consider the bus alternative. http://www.gobycoach.com/

Also remember flying can be the cheapest solution in the UK.
e.g Ryanair charge only £15 London to Glasgow in 1 hour in Ictober,( rather than losing a day in a traiin). You can then backtrack down Scotland and England.

My main concerm is that you are going to spend over half of your holiday travelling rather than staying. (You could do much less milage travelling London - Amsterdam - Brussels - Paris - London)
