We're now 7th (out of 5.6 million!) in the search results for searches for 'travel forum' (no quotes) and 3rd (out of 4.1 million) for searches for 'travel forums'.
Keep up the good work eveyone!
Happy posting,

I still have trouble getting my head around why some things get high ranking and others don't. Leaving that aside congratulations on your achievements - when does Aardvark float on the stock market? _________________ David

Alas, high placements don't necssarily equal high revenues... just yet, at least.
For the time being, we shall just keep on plugging away. The forums are ticking over quite nicely but aardvarks are ambitious creatures and would like to see still more people get involved.
The number of submissions coming in to the search engine is picking up nicely also to the point that we are struggling to keep up with those and being a little less forgiving with those people that don't bother to follow the submission guidelines. Maybe one day we shall be able to justify charging for submissions, but we're a long way off that just yet.
At the moment, we'll just try to keep on building the brand - we're in this for the long term.

A bit like me with Hub-UK. I am not sure where I am going with it but it gives me great pleasure and who knows perhaps one day . . . _________________ David

I think where many fail is that they don't have patience. They expect returns on day 1 or soon after, and with internet start-ups this is rarely the way things work. It takes time to build awareness just in the same way as it would take to build a business from scratch.

Well, well, well... even this has exceeded my wildest expectations... on Google we are now:
2nd for: travel forum
and...
1st (yes, 1st!!!) for: travel forums
I'm not sure how short-lived this will be, but let's just enjoy it whilst it lasts.

It still works!
Have you tipped Hub-UK off on how to get his "cooking vacations" vs. "cooking holidays" problem resolved?
Fourteen months old, lots of hours of Dedicated work, and already 1st and 2nd results returned by the google algorithm. Well Done all hiding away in Cumbria, who work on the domain.

Hey guys!
Just thought I would stop by again... actually after spotting your number one spot and give you guys a big thumbs up! Sure enough, the thread is still there and of course you guys noticed this long before me
Things are moving along rather nicely over here aren't they.... haven't been around too much, little busy keeping active on other boards, and occasionally I even have to work which really annoys me. I am going to go check out some of the other threads, I like this place for the travel related business postings...
Cheers,
Sam
ps. for some reason we are getting cained for 'travel forums' and even worse for 'travel forum'.... I have a hunch it might just be a matter of updating the good ol' title tag so will get around to that one of these days.
pps. out of curiousity, you don't have to tell me, does the term 'travel forums' bring in more or less visitors than 'travel forum'? I am amazed at the difference these changes can make sometimes!!!!! _________________ Online Travel Guide ; leave your comments, advice and tips for other travellers. |

Despite the marginally inferior placement, we tend to do better with searches for 'travel forum'. I imagine this is down to that term being searched for more frequently.
