Question about ants

Hey Aaron,

I was just reading up some more on the ants and I think it's a pretty good idea. My question is though how one ant could equate to 5 dollars. If you get 10 banner impressions for one ant and the normal price for a banner ad on Aardvark is 5 $ CPM, then isn't one ant worth 5$/100 or 5 cents.

I know I would rather buy 1000 impressions than 10 for five bucks.... just a thought.

Hi Sam

I've already answered this in the 'General Chat' where you also asked, but I'll address it here also. It was a typo/oversight. 100 ants is the approximate equivalent of $5 in terms of value. You can't trade them in with us, but you could use them yourself for advertising or sell them to a third party if you found a buyer.

Hope this clarifies the issue.

Hehe, yeah sorry, wanted to place something about it in the right forum. Anyway, I am over my 'ants' limit for today I saw after my last post Smile

Is there a daily limit? I wouldn't want these posts to count as I understand it would get majorly out of control but didn't see anything about a daily limit in the explanation.

There is no daily limit to how many ants you can accrue. Not currently, at least.

We do reserve the right to eat (read: delete) ants if we feel they haven't been gained legitimately, and we strongly discourage attempts to accrue ants via untoward means (eg. posting multiple one-liners, posting for posting's sake, making worthless contributions, etc. etc.). If we see people doing this kind of thing repeatedly, we'll just put an instant ban on his/her account, as their contributions only serve to lessen the quality of the forums. I am hoping that people won't even attempt it, but no doubt someone will (unsuccessfully) 'try their luck'. Smile

Looks like I set the limit of posts at 10 instead of 1000 - will ask Aaron to credit you for the post that didn't earn credits. Account credited, at least the donate function works.

No, there is no ban on your account. Please bear with us - 'ants' only went live about an hour ago, and because they are so new we are still ironing out any teething problems. It appears you have highlighted one such problem, and we're looking into it right away.

Hehe, no problem at all guys.... I know how that goes. Don't worry about the crediting of the account, the posts haven't been particularly useful or long.

I didn't think I had posted more than ten times today but I was up till 4 in the morning and did post a few then so perhaps those are accumalating as well. As I said though, no worries!

OK, thanks. Should be sorted now at least. I suspect the posts from the early hours of the am would have been counted. We've had a few problems implementing all of this but I think/hope they're now mostly all ironed out.

Working till 4am? Shocked

And I thought only us aardvarks were nocturnal! Razz

Sometimes I get active and pump out a lot of work I have been putting off.... yesterday was one of those days. It's strange, I do end up working till 3 or 4 at least twice a week....and they say internet folk don't do the work huh! Ask my fiancee, I think she disagrees....
