Right now, you won't see a lot. It's dark 24 hours a day.

At the pole itself, there is very little other than... well... ice.

There is, though, a Russian research base called Barneo/Borneo that was established about 10 years ago and is set up every Spring at about 89°N. (It moves with the drifting ice.) Expeditions and tourists often stop at this station.

I wouldn`t wait too long anymore if you want to see the Northpole ! By 2040, all the ice there is likely to have disappeared Shocked Source

At this time of year it is quite dark however you may be lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis. I would rather assume that the Summer months are going to be a better time to go if you really want to get the most out of your trip.

I found this site that you might find interesting...
http://www.arctic.noaa.gov/gallery_np_seasons.html
And of course Wikipedia is always a good source of information...

Aurora borealis forecasts...

There are lots of ways you can do this.

You can get flights to ice runways near the Pole, and then take a helicopter. Or you can fly from Oslo to Spitzbergen and get a helicopter transfer to an icebreaker such as the Yammal which is a Russian vessel that provides "cruises" for one month of the year.

Of course there are also skiing and dogsled options available also...

If it's really something you want to do, a few Google searches will unveil lots of companies that help with these kinds of trips.

I hate to break this to you, but I don't think you'll find any hotels there.

Do a Google search (or an Aardvark search) and you'll find numerous agents that cover trips there.

Are you genuinely interested in going on such a trip, or are you just looking at posting to get your sig seen? That's certainly the impression that I get from this thread and one or two other posts such as here. Confused
