I have been lucky enough to work on many rivers around the world as a guide for 16 years now and the great thing about rafting is nice just about everywhere. Without doubt my favourite rivers have been;
Zambezi, Zimbabwe/Zambia - Got to be the worlds best 1 day adrenaline trip, safe and massive
Franklin, Tasmania - Amazing 10 day wilderness expedition
Findhorn, Scotland - Stunning scenery, fast flowing, tight and technical with huge variation in flow levels and runs year round
Go with the flow on a river near you...
Cheers, Jim

I only place I have been white water rafting is in Rotorua, New Zealand (North Island). The operators themselves were located just outside the town center but came and picked us up. The rafting was the best thing I did on the whole trip as our course had 14 sets of rapids, and three waterfalls (the biggest measuring 7 meters in height). Water was so fresh and incredibly clean. Anyone who wants to go white water rafting I would definitely recommend Rotorua.
I also went "Black water rafting" in Waitomo, New Zealand (north Island). It is not quite what it sounds like but still great fun. Basically you get taken down into the caves and ride along underground rivers in the dark with glow worms. It is very cold but an amazing experience. Something to try anyway. _________________ Backpacking : : Budget Travel Hidden Costs : : Round the world tickets: : Round the world trip budget calculator |

When it comes to rafting in the United States, you'll find that there are more multi-day trips in the west than in the east. If you are looking for one-day trips or even shorter, the Gauley is a classic. On the west coast, the Kern river near LA offers spectacular whitewater.
For longer trips, the two best are the Middle Fork of the Salmon (typically six-days) and the Colorado through the Grand Canyon (typically six to 18 days). My family runs an operation on the Middle Fork so I spend a lot of time there and take a fair number of people down that river. I've been on the Colorado and had a blast. They are very different trips though. The Middle Fork is much lower volume and has more gradient. It starts in an alpine forest and drops nearly 3000 feet in the 100 miles that we travel. The Colorado through the Grand, however, is considered a "desert" river and has a much slower drop at just 12 feet per mile. In terms of multi-day rafting trips, both of these rivers top my list.
I hope this information helps! _________________ Will Volpert - River Guide

I went river rafting for the first time this summer in the pyranees in France. For beginners I would say it was really really good. Not to challenging in terms of white water however. But with the random stops to go down rapids on your butt and jumping of 15 foot cliffs was all fun fun fun. very reasonable aswell... Just 25 Euros and that included transport to and from our campsite a good 25-30miles away. Very good fun! _________________ For all the latest holiday deals just visit >> http://www.holiday-spirit-deals.com |

The Rio Grande offers rafting from mild to wild (cat 4) rafting from May 1 +/- thru the summer. We've even had folks raft into early October although river flow is much lower that late. Many rafting companies are located in Taos and offer both half and full day river experiences. Pray for snow...makes the water deep in summer! _________________ John Slenes says Visit Indian Hills Inn

White water rafting is pretty much non-existant in Ohio. But a short drive to West Virginia will give you a some choice. A canoe trip down the Mohican River is always fun. But no white water there. Mohican River near or in Loudonville, Ohio _________________ http://limopricer.com |

Hi
Here is some information relating to your interest.....I think Nepal is the best destinations for you.
Nepal has earned a reputation as one of the best destinations in the world for white water rafting. Nepal's thundering waters, coming from the glaciers of the mighty Himalayan, provide unmatched thrills for rafting and immersing oneself in the landscape. A rafting trip is bound to be the highlight of your stay in the country. Rivers are graded on a scale of one to six, with one being a swimming pool and six a one -way ticket to your maker. Four is considered to be quite challenging without being exceedingly dangerous to the novice rafter. Five requires some previous river experience. Here are some of the popular rafting trips: The Trisuli River 01 days to 05days (grade 3+) is one of the most popular, if not the favorite, of Nepal's raft able rivers. Due to its proximity to Kathmandu and the easy road access which accompanies it, most rafting companies offer trips on the Trisuli. For first time rafters it offers plenty of excitement. Many choose to incorporate a ride down the Trisuli with either a trip to Pokhara or to the Royal Chitwan National Park. _________________ regards
