Wow... that's some vacation, Mike...

Scenery is stunning though. A glimpse at Mike's site gives a taste of real mountains.
Never made it that far North ourselves. Tofino (Vancouver Island) is as far North as we got

I'm surprised Scotland hasn't been mentioned so far. With the stunning scenery it's every photographer's dream place. Pity about the unpredictible weather. _________________ Yet still my lonely spirit soars, amid the mountains and the glens / From my ancestral burial ground, I am MacIain...

Keeping this limited to nature and wildlife, I would say:
Volcanoes and Haleakala National Parks, Hawaii, USA
a Kenya and Tanzania Safari
The Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
San Ignacio Lagoon, Baja, Mexico (friendly gray whales)
Churchill, Manitoba, Canada (polar bears)
Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, USA
Kakadu National Park, Kangaroo Island, and many other parts of Australia
Ranthambor National Park, India (tigers)
Li River Cruise, Guilin, China |

Although others have already mentioned it, I can't wait to return to New Zealand (especially the South Island, which may very well be the most beautiful place on earth). My other distant favorite is Vietnam. Beautiful, fascinating culture, and the people treated us (Americans) as if we were long lost family returning home. We were astonished.
Closer to home: Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado; Joshua Tree National Park in California; Canyonlands in Utah. _________________ D. Winger - Colorado for Free

2) Hobart
3) Port Douglas
4) Canary Islands (for what I remember of it!)
5) Kuala Lumpur _________________ Worldwide Holiday Homes | Travel Rants Blog | Florida Travel Guide |

Welcome back Darren (though I'm probably way behind in saying this!)
Glad to hear that your recent trip to Malaysia and Australia left you with plenty of great memories. Next time you have the time and funds to make such a big trip, head to Auckland and spend a month or two exploring the wonders that New Zealand has to offer.
Take Care,
Dan. |

Well - Im partial because we were just there but when we were in New Zealand we took a helicopter ride over Milford Sound and landed on the west coast right on the tasman sea - you couldn't get to this spot by car or by boat (too many rocks) you may have been able to walk there - but it would have been an adventure - but when we arrived there, there were 100's of seals basking in the sun and surf and the southern alps were behind us and the ocean crashing around us just breathtaking - I'll try and post some pics when we get them back _________________ For great golfing destination suggestions visit The Golfer Magazine @ www.thegolfermag.com |

I must admit, It has me that way as well. Although I have been to 59 different countries to date, the only one I would consider retireing to is Thailand.
I love Sydney, Madiera, KL, HK, and Costa Rica also, but wouldnt consider living there

| Nowhere very exotic for me, I'm afraid. I still think the best places I've ever been to are Venice and Ireland's west coast, namely Donegal and Mayo. |

I guess my favourite places in the world are Scotland especially the West Coast and the Islands (home is where the heart is after all)
Banff National Park in the Rockies, especially Lake Louise when it's frozen over and Lake Minnewanka
and the fjords of Norway, north of Trondheim, absolutely beautiful place, with beautiful people. |

| Yeah indeed there s no place like home. I live in Moldova a country of woodlands, with many places to resort yourself away from the humdrum of everyday life and simple weekends I prefer to spend in our National park in Chisinau -a great place featuring world wide and inner flora. |

Yep, always nice to go home. I've been away for fifteen years now, but still consider myself a Vermonter. The Green Mountains, and Lake Champlain are always a thrill for me when I get back there for a visit. _________________ Travel Forum - Travel Web - Traveler - Rock Climbing - Kiting |
