i tried hakarl, an icelandic delight, recently. it is fermented (or rotten) shark. it smelled terrible, and it tasted horrible. it is the most disgusting thing that i've ever eaten. _________________ bigdaub |

I don't know great deal about Korean cuisine (though I've been to South Korea), but live seafood is treasured in Japan.
Odori Ebi = Live prawns
Shirauo No Odori = Live whitebaits
are examples. _________________ Online Education :: Career Development Forum

Seems like pretty much everyone is just listing different types of meats... each culture has its own animals that it eats, I don't see what makes one any grosser than the other! _________________ http://www.memelabs.com/tremblant/en/ - Submit your Travel Horror Stories! |

Well, I've eaten kangaroo and crocodile, bison (stew, burger & prime rib--delicious), elk, pronghorn antelope, and chocolate covered ants from a can when I was a kid.
In Oaxaca, Mexico, there's a restaurant with a specialty I couldn't bring myself to try--"caldo de gato" -- yes, it really is cat soup. I did try a bite of the grasshopper pizza there.
In Illinois, I ate squirrel at my great-grandmother's house.
One of the most delicious oddities (to me) I've ever eaten was yabbies in south Australia. It's a kind of freshwater crayfish. Unbelievably sweet and delicate. At the same bush restaurant, we had lots of sweet berries, greens and root vegetables from the bush I'd never seen before.
In Montana, I like bull fries, aka rocky Mountain oysters, aka deep fried bull's testicles.
And in Rome, "spaghetti nero." I thought it would be pasta in the style of the emperor Nero, but "nero" means black in Italian. It was black spaghetti, made with squid ink. A bit musty tasting. It turned my mouth licorice black immediately and something else black for a few days after! _________________ Donna

I saw something on tv wherein they ate live octopus... They say one may die if it's not eaten properly.

In Japan the first time I met my wife's parents we went to the restaurant and her mother ordered shirako.
I didn’t know what it was but they told me it was very expensive so I thought I had better be polite and eat it, I am also the type of person who will try just about any type of food at least once.
After consuming it I deduced that it was definitely some part of a fish but was not sure what part. My best guess was it was cleaned, raw fish guts.
After a couple of mouth fulls they happily told me that shirako was COD SPERM! I thankfully declined eating anymore and finished up the cows stomach on the other plate.
I have learned when you live in another country long enough to stop asking “what is that?” _________________ http://www.okinawa-information.com

Come to Tailand! We have all kind of weird food.
start from most common
frog, bird, eel, ant's egg, turtle's egg
then
dog, turtle, tree worm(don'tknow name)
and
deer(few kinds), hog, seaturtle
The list is actually longer. And not all Thais eat all this. They are available on different part of Thailand. _________________ - Hua Hin Real Estate | Property for Sale Hua Hin | Hua Hin Houses for Sale - |

pigs ear in sweet and sour sauce in china was pretty weird, and sea cucumbers descirbed as having a "slippery slimmy taste" not something I look for in my food. _________________ Eagle rock cafe and apartments at :
