UNESCO and Hanoi have launched a campaign to add the capital city’s old quarter to the list of world heritage sites.
In a talk with Nguyen Quoc Trieu, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Chu Shiu Kee, Director of UNESCO Vietnam, said that the organisation’s intention is to preserve the nation’s historical and cultural sites, especially in Hanoi.
UNESCO is positively promoting the maintenance and restoration of Vietnam’s traditional cultural sites, of which Hanoi’s ancient streets are a typical example. The area is the oldest residential area in Vietnam with a history dating back a thousand years.
According to Historical Prof. Le Van Lan, Hanoi’s ancient streets criss-cross ten wards vie the streets of Hang Bong, Hang Gai, Cau Go, Hang Thung, Cua Nam, Hang Dau and Phung Hung.

You posted the exact same thing here. Also, please read the PM I sent you. I don't mean to dampen your apparent enthusiasm for the forums but it would be nice if you didn't keep posting your subjects in CAPS, resulting in myself or another moderator having to correct it. It would also be nice to see you get involved in some of the discussions with others (try the General Chat section as a good starting point) or why not answer some of the questions on the forums pertaining to Vietnam (eg. here, here, here, here, here and here), rather than just posting news articles and nothing else. These links should provide you with an ideal opportunity to share in your expertise of the area!

Thanks for your understanding...

Aaron
