An American study has found business travellers are not only less productive while out of the office but often take up to three days to get back to normal levels of production on their return.

The Kensington Technology Group study found travel-related stresses, including physical ailments, anxiety caused by security concerns and simply being away were major contributors to the amount of recovery time taken.

Of the 600 respondents who travelled by air at least once a month, half said they needed up to two full days to catch up on work responsibilities after a business trip, while 12% need at least three days.
