I think people often prefer what they are used to.
I used to think our beer was very good but then I moved to Germany for a while and I liked the German beer a lot.
Czech republic make some great beer but I am sure so does many other countries.
Nowadays I drink wine instead of beer so I should maybe stay out of the discussion. _________________ With friendly regards

I doubt you'll like Old Speckled Hen and Belhaven for much longer, now that Greene King have got their clammy hands on them. OSH used to be a decent beer, but not any more. Nor will Belhaven be 'from Scotland' soon, I suspect. |
Sadly prophetic, but more dramatically than I thought.
Greene King are downgrading the cask version of Old Speckled Hen from 5.2% to 4.5% in order to reposition it as a 'Best Bitter', a position they presumably thought was vacant.
The bottled/canned version will remain at 5.2%. |

Most people don't realise the huge variety of British ales, from light, hoppy, citrussy pale-gold summer ales, to roasty, malty, sweet milds, through to heavy, rich, fruity, barley-wines. There are around 3-400 breweries in the UK, brewing upwards of 3000 different beers!
Unfortunately, you have to work quite hard to find such a variety kept in good condition, but if you want to try a selection, get to the Great British Beer Festival, held in london every August.
Although I think Belgian beers are very very good, I think there are fewer different styles, and I think Germany's strict brewing regulations, although admirable, prevent interesting varieties from being produced. |
The only post close to correct is this one. Quite frankly people that think beer from canada or USA is superior to the hundreds of years and thousands of brews that are found in England knows NOTHING about beer. There is nowhere in the world better for a "pint" than a good pub in England with well kept ales. It's a fact. How silly some people sound. Talk of Samuels or Green Abbots or whatever is the tip of the iceberg. In England there is a culture and history and quality and understanding that doesn't come together in 30 years ....its like saying Chile makes better wine than France. PLEASE, wake up and smell the hops! |

| Also people trying to understand where is the best "pint"...and then I read talk of bottles and cans...the best "pint" is elusive but without doubt it is in places with local beers poured well kept at correct temperatures etc. Casque ales...so often countries have no understanding of how to keep and serve beer at the optimum level. I liken new countries ales again to new world wines. Heavy on the flavour and intense but without the subtlety and space to let the ales breath and flavour to come out naturally ....I don't want to be wacked in the face by a beer. There are beers for occasions and tastes of course but a good ale should be a drink that is moorish not a trial like a lot of the "new world beers" |

has to be a pint of guinness from any small pub in Donegal, if you ask it to be served warm some will use a hot poker. _________________ Cheap RV hire USA |

So to be precise, England has the best ale, hands down. The range and culture of it across the country. Germany is mainly pilsner and cant compare, usa is a youngster and while they have good beers but its like saying chilli makes better wine than france...
Belgium, nah, dont rate it as the best. Some good ones but a pint of casque marke ale in a good pub in england is a better experience. English ales are not best in bottles or cans because its live and often doesnt travel well even in barrels by road across the country. |

The Philippines!
Try San Miguel Beer Pale Pilsen. Best beer in Asia according to Beer Magazine. But if you ask me, it's undoubtedly the best beer in the world. |

| I think it depends on personal taste, I'd say may favorite is beer from my home country of Hungary:) we have a number of microbreweries here with specialty beers as well as the standard big companies. BUT I had the most amazing raspberry flavored beer in Berlin, they have a local beer called Berliner Kindl and that comes in raspberry flavor, delicious. |

| For me beer always tastes best in the country it was brewed. In Spain - Estrella, in London, the beers from the microbrewery pub I was in were fantastic (Bonobe in particular), in Germany - Paulaner and of course in Ireland its got to be Guinness, Murphy's or when in Cork - Beamish! |

True the German beer is good, also similar tradition is the Chez one and Poland. They are good beer producers..
But #1 is Germany.!!! They have a tone of different flavours.. |
