Dont know if anybody is aware of this but Manchester Airport have started adding a drop off tax to all passengers/companies that want to use their arrival terminals. This will no doubt have a knock on effct to a lot of businesses and I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the matter?
Its only a nominal charge but in my opinion the reasoning behind it is to make it more expensive for people to park their vehicles at off site car parks and force them into the airports on site parks. Thats just my view and I would be interested in other peoples veiws maybe f they have encountered this issue at other airports.
Many Thanks _________________ www.mfairportparking.com

Basically the charges are on the spot charges that are applicable when you arrive at the arrival ternminals.
I believe that the charge will even apply to taxis, transfer coaches aswell as tth egeneral public.
Dont think you can pre pay the charge yet but Im sure it will come. There is still no charge for dropping off at the departure terminals so I suspect that is where a lot of people are going.
Once the airport get onto this im sure they will apply some sort of charge to this also. _________________ www.mfairportparking.com

EMMMMMMM. Very interesting. Hope its not a pilot scheme. Which other airports are in the same group, all?. Cos I can see all these people towing suitecases and trollies from the arrivals terminal out onto the Bath Road at Heathrow. Including me. If it ever gets national. _________________ (\__/) Chinese Proverb - He who asks a question is a fool for a minute; he who does not remains a fool forever.

It sounds normal to me.
Other companies like airlines, rental companies often need to pay taxes at airports so why not shuttle services. _________________ GHPtravel,

Manchester airport is part of a group called Manchester Airport Group and this includes
Manchester, Bournemouth, Nottingham East Midlands and one more which slips my memory right now. |

But it is not limited to those. I know of airports around the world that tax their services. _________________ GHPtravel,

This now applies at Liverpool airport also but you do have 10 mins before the charge is applied.
The worst that i have heard of now, is that Liverpool are soon going to charge a £2 charge to pass through airport security because of the added cost of security since the new government restrictions on hand luggage.
Ryanair are telling passengers NOT to pay because security is included in their airport charges.
It will be interesting to see what happens but if they get away with it, expect it in an airport near you! _________________ cheap holiday deals

Ouch, I'll be avoiding flying from Manchester and Liverpool then...
I really hope this doesn't catch on. It seems like flights are getting cheaper, but there are so many other costs getting tacked on that you can't avoid, that it's really hard to budget in advance, and you end up paying almost as much anyway _________________ Anne
